Book Award from Schools

what does winning these awards mean? is it worth mentioning in the app or is it something minor?

This is what I've gotten and I didn't really know how to react to it:

The Dartmouth Book Award is given to recognize a junior who ranks in the top ten percent of his or her class. The award singles out a young man or woman who has demonstrated intellectual leadership and has made a positive contribution to the extracurricular life of the school.

how significant is this?

does anyone know?

It’s an award. You should mention it. But in the big picture, it’s not all that meaningful, and it’s not a hook for Dartmouth (or anywhere else).

yup, they give one to the top ten juniors in my school every year, not one of them got into the school they got it from. That’s not to say you won’t, just to show that they really don’t hold much deep meaning.

Not very important. In general, they just show that the administration thinks well of a student.
