book award

How do you get this award? Do you have to apply for it yourself or does someone from your school nominate you?

... which book award?

There must be a Smith Book Award, just as there is a Yale Book Award - and a bunch of others. I know nothing about it, though.

Wellesleyhopeful, I suggest you talk to your guidance counselor about it.

P.S. Don't tell Smith about your screen name! :-)

it's through your sschool & the college. see your GC.
usually its based on comm. services hrs + leadership + academic achievement.
i dont think they mean a whole lot in terms of admissions (to the specific school). usually they are monetary or literally "book"s.

"it's through your sschool & the college"

Smith Alumnae are responsible for the book award.

It has no influence on admissions. The award is a means for the Alumnae clubs to get students acquainted with Smith

Not all schools give the award; my D's did not. RLT is correct that alumnae give the award, and that it has little influence on admissions. But...it doesn't hurt to get it and put it on your app. ;)
