What book should I use for US history? And what book should I use for World History? Also, is the information in these books enough to score 700+?

i took both tests and got decent score

World History - Barron's
US History - AMSCO AP Book

These are like bibles. I am not sure about 800, but read them over and over . You will get the score you want.

I agree with the above.

However, if you're taking world history, just get the AP Barron's and use it for both AP and the subject test. I didn't even read it all and I'm confident for 700+.

Us history = barrons

However, the barrons book is very extensive; so make sure you have time to read it all.

My son used Barron's for World History and got an 800. To give you an idea of his background, he had a year-long World History course his sophomore year and took the test at the end of his junior year. Also, there were some questions he knew answers for from computer games and outside reading he had done. He felt Barrons did an excellent job of preparing him for the test. He had also read Kaplans and thought it was a waste of time in comparison. One important point to keep in mind with the WH test is that it is only offered twice a year, in June and December. So, be sure that either you get a score you're happy with the first time or you have sufficient time in your college application process to retake it if necessary. Editing to add he used the Barrons for the SAT II, not the AP Barrons book. I haven't seen the latter so don't know what degree of overlap there might be between the two.

I hated Barrons for the SAT II world. The 2008 edition confused me greatly. I'm a good history student and scored an 800 on my world test. I felt it wasted my time and didn't help at all which was very frustrating. I did however, like the PR and Barron's AP World books for some reason. I felt those were much better put together and they actually had people proofread and do some quality control.

In general I feel PR is sufficient for a decent score, but for high scores like 750+ Barron's normally would be better, but I had such a bad experience with Barron's 2008 SAT II world...I think it would be better to simply do the normal homework and read up on general test taking strats for SAT II and then take the official CB test.

if you are anything like me in being a capable history student, you will probably feel that the test prep books are extremely boring as they repeat commons sense and widely known facts
