Is there some sort of consensus on what book is considered the best to prepare for the SAT Subject Tests on U.S. and World History?

Thanks.

If you don’t have a solid background in US History, you should get AMSCO. It covers practically all the material you could be tested on.

As for World History, I used the Barron’s AP World book - it was pretty in-depth and many people recommend it.

I personally used Barron
s for World History, but I had to do some outside research on a few topics that weren
t mentioned. But in the end, I got an 800.

A friend of mine got 750 using Kaplan`s, which covered EVERYTHING in history and NOTHING in art, culture, and maps.
So my advice to you, Kaplan`s, but do outside research...

What’s the exact name of the AMSCO U.S. history book? Is it the “Essential United States History” one?

As for, World History, do you think it is better to use the AP book even if I’m going to take the SAT?

Thanks.

The title is “US History: Preparing for Advanced Placement Examination” ^

Are these books better than those that are specifically targeted for the SAT Subject Tests?
