Booklist

web booklet? I dunno what that’s about.

You don’t really need any ancillary materials, although [Amazon.com: Study Guide for Zumdahl’s Chemical Principles (9780618946587): Steven S. Zumdahl: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Study-Guide-Zumdahls-Chemical-Principles/dp/0618946586/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250531508&sr=8-1) this study guide helps a lot during review.

The solution’s manual is unnecessary since you will be getting p-sets and not questions from the book.

According to the bookstore, the way they have things listed is a little confusing for BIOG 1103. The textbook is listed by itself, but it is also part of the package. Just need one or the other.

The package contains access to something called Pearson Custom site that was requested by the prof. I know several hear have said you don’t need the ancill. materials, but what about access to the pearson site?

The package also comes with a $10 rebate for the iclicker but you can only use one rebate.

If someone could clarify for me on BIOG 1101 & CHEM 2070. When buying a used textbook, do I need to make sure it comes with access to mastering chemistry and mastering biology?

We never needed the extra materials for biog 1101/1103. I think the Pearson site you are referring to is the one with practice multiple choice questions, and online version of the book, and some tutorials and whatnot. It really isn’t necessary, as the practice questions on the site are too easy to be useful. (This Pearson site is the “mastering biology” thing you referred to.)

Mastering Chemistry (i didnt even know there was one) is also not necessary.

Ok, so what REALLY is need for Bio 1101 + 1103?

A rundown of the materials. Used/New IClicker? Bundled Textbook with ancillary material or used textbook that is, apparently, not available according to my booklist. Is the SG biology good to have to study or not? They list a $173 Bio textbook by Campbell/Neil under BioG 1103. How is that different from the bundled $185 “NEW” one that has Reece instead of Neil. Bit confusing…

For Spanish 1230 (cont spanish), they say this on my booklist, "You are required to purchase !Avance! bundle that contains the text and workbook/lab manual OR the two components separately, not both.

Now, they list 4 materials that are required. I’ll just list them here for your reference. They all can be bought used too fyi.

IAVANCE! by Bretz

IAVANCE! (Cuaderno de prac) Bretz

2 PKG: IAVANCE! & WB/LM Bretz

2 PKG Sorpgresas w/ CD by Olazagasti-SE

what is needed…lol What are the “other two components”…

This is what you need for bio:

1101:
Campbell & Reece Bio 8th Edition (just the book will suffice)
I-Clicker
(Study guide is not necessary at all.)

1103:
Campbell & Reece Bio 8th Edition (same as 1101, but I never even looked at it for 1103)
Investigating Bio Lab Manual (a giant binder) which you must get at the cornell store

and what about CHEM 2070 and the lab. What do you need for that, specifically.

Especially which text, because they don’t list the text and I am not sure which one or which edition. I am assuming it is just General Chemistry 4 edition, but there is a similar one by the same other that is 9th edition, so want to be sure.

I called Kraftees and they said they would be putting their book list online in the next day or so.

Chem 2070

Book: [Amazon.com: General Chemistry: Principles and Modern Application, 9th Edition (9780132388269): Ralph H. Petrucci, William S Harwood, Geoff E Herring, Jeff Madura: Books](http://www.amazon.com/General-Chemistry-Principles-Modern-Application/dp/013238826X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250536316&sr=8-1)
Lab: Lab manual purchased at the Cornell Store
IClicker

What is the “ancillary material” for Bio? And I’m guessing it’s cheaper to buy it used off Amazon?

It’s a CD code for the mastering bio site, some little magazines with passages/questions and whatnot. Again, useless stuff.

Are the used books usually available, or do they run out very quickly?

Used books generally run out very quickly… they are usually gone by the first day or two after they’re shelved. I would recommend that you buy your books online on a site like amazon, bigwords, or half.com and have them shipped to your dorm before you arrive. You’ll save a lot of $. The cornell store is wayyy too expensive. However, there are certain books (ie. manuals) that are only offered through the cornell store.

Anyone know if the optional book for Calc 1 (PT 1 SSM THOMAS’ CALCULUS: EARLY TRANS) is worth it to buy? Or should I just not bother?

that’s the solution’s manual for thomas calculus

Do not buy it. It is readily available on DC++

^I don’t understand how DC++ works. Is uploading books ok with university policy?

lol. wait until you get on campus, someone will explain all about it.

Okay, so I definitely should not bother with it? Sorry, just making sure.

One more thing, my FWS (Greek Myth) is not listed on the book list; are there books that we usually need to buy for this class (or any FWS if you have not taken this class)?

If you go to the Cornell store website, you can view your book list either by schedule or by course. My FWS didn’t show up when I looked at my book list by schedule, so I just looked up the books for the FWS by course.

grh i feel like an idiot i just spent $15 on the solutions manual… but i got the book itself cheap so i guess it balances and it’ll be slightly more convenient to have the book i think.

is MATLAB 7 RELEASE 14 STUDENT VERSION going to be available to download on campus? the textbook list says optional, but if i don’t get it does that mean i have to do all my work in computer labs? i have an irrational aversion to all things compsci. =( this whole post screams “i am an idiot.” =( =(

once again, don’t worry about matlab until you get on campus.

This might be kind of dumb, but are we able to order the books online? or do we have to wait until we get on campus and visit the store?
