There is a very entertaining historical novel titled "Harvard Yard", in paperback, which follows the evolution of H from colonial times to the present with a nice little mystery tossed in. A nice summer read for the proud parents, it will give some nice background on buildings and people.

yeah i heard about that one, but i haven't read it yet
sounds good though

I want something "Hogwarts: A History" style to read before I get to eat in Annenberg. That would be the BEST THING EVER.

Seriously? Harvard: A History. Someone needs to get workin' on that.

Hahaha. I totally want a copy of Harvard: A History. Maybe we should co-write that for future generations of HP-fans/admits.

ETA: On another note, I read Harvard Schmarvard as a sophomore or a junior when I was trying to convince myself that Harvard shouldn't top my list, and preparing myself for rejection. (Doesn't every Harvard kid have to go through a stage of denial?) Obviously it didn't work, and I got it, so it's all good. But the book does give a realistic edge to some aspects of Harvard.

I haven't read any of these, but they are all about Harvard. :)

There's a book written by a Harvard professor named Richard Light in which he interviews hundreds of Harvard seniors and distilled their wisdom into a book on "Making the Most of College: Students Speak Their Mind."
