books on PhDs?

I ran into this:
How to Get a PhD by Estelle Phillips and Derek.S. Pugh
while browsing around and I was wondering if any of you have read a similar book to help you through grad school?
Recommendations / reviews appreciated :)

PhD comics...all you need to get yourself through...realizing everyone else is in the same crappy boat! ;)

search on amazon. there is a boat load of resources out there.

I've heard "Getting What You Came for: The Smart Student's Guide to Earning an M.A. or a Ph.D." is a one of the best grad school survival guides out there.

^^ thanks, I checked that out at a bookstore & got it.

Pseudonomdeplume who is that targeted at? People in grad school or planning on grad school? Is it for the artsy / humanities types or for scientists and engineers?

Scorp, I would say it's targeted at both.

He does try to answer:

Is graduate school right for me?
Should I get a master's or a PhD?
How can I choose the best possible school?

But he also has some interesting (somewhat controversial) ideas for how grad students can finish their degrees in less time, for less money and with less trouble. He gives advice (maybe controversial too) of landing a job too.

Peters earned his PhD in the sciences, but most of the information in there should be applicable to all grad students.
