<p>you aren't really expected to have the books with you within the shopping period, since every first class is just an introduction and the professor will simply go through the syllabus with the class. so you don't have the buy the books in time for classes.</p>

<p>That being said, I typically buy the books to as many as three of my courses before shopping period (becuase I'm sure I'm going to take them and want to grab whatever used copies they have) and wait off on any course I'm unsure of.</p>
