jumping up and down a bit while flapping his arms meekly Seriously, check out Betterworld. They’re usually as cheap or cheaper than Amazon, and it goes to a good cause!

And more info on PE - you will have it in time in any event. You don’t even register for PE sections until the first week, I believe. The textbook might honestly be the most worthless book I’ve ever bought at ND. The only purpose it served was a drool catcher when I dragged myself to my 8:30 contemporary topics and promptly fell back asleep. Avoid purchasing at all costs.

The PE book is a waste, but some teachers (at least mine did) required you to register online and prove that you did…the trick being that each book had a unique access code. Then again, my teacher was the one who edited the binder, so she could’ve just been trying to pad her salary…

My son is changing his schedule when he arrives at school. Now, I don’t think I can buy his books ahead of time (used and online was my plan) because it’s possible other classes will be moved around as a result. Have any current students experienced this? Have you successfully order used books online, the week classes began, and been okay or do the professors insist on you having them the first day?

He will be fine. Some people don’t get books until the first couple of weeks into class. It’s irrational to expect everyone to stay in every class every time.

Also, if you buy the books from the bookstore on campus, I believe you have a grace period for returns and getting a complete refund if you keep the receipt, esp due to changing classes.

There is also a website that has been in operation for several years: www.chegg.com. Offers the opportunity to rent your textbooks and return them at the end of the term. Huge savings. Highlighting is ok; writing in them is not.

Thanks. I do not want him to be unprepared, but more than that I do not want to pay full price for books that can be purchased for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. Thanks!
