Boots

I know this topic may have already appeared, but I am wondering if it would be wise to buy a pair of boots just to get used to the idea of running in boots and what not. I heard somewhere that USNA issues Bates boots, but I do not know for sure.

I know the boots that I would buy cannot be taken with me to I-day, but I just curious if this getting used to boots idea was good or bad.

Thanks

First off, they do issue you Bates boots on I-Day. Piece of advice, I was so tired and rushed that I didn't get the best fitting boots and and stuck with them for the next three and a quarter years (plebe year about 3/4 over!).

Everyone has to deal with the idea of getting used to boots, and the transition really isn't that bad so I wouldn't buy a pair just to get used to them.

If you are headed to USNA, wait 'till I-Day to get your boots. If you want to "break" something in, break in a good pair of white running shoes that you can take with you!

If you are headed the other way, up the Hudson, then you will get pages and pages of info on how to order your boots ahead of time, how to break them in, and how to care for them. You will put them on at the start of Beast and never take them off till you graduate!

Like someone told the thorpedo.... USMA marches 18-plus miles in the middle of nowhere to nowhere.... USNA marches 5 miles and ends up at Nordstroms!!! ;)

Wait, let me get this straight...you wore the same boots for 3 and half years!!!?

No, you don't even wear cammies that often.

"I didn't get the best fitting boots and and stuck with them for the next three and a quarter years"

Yea sorry, I guess I was typing too fast. I didn't get the best fitting boots and I will have to stick with them for the next three years, unless I want to personally buy a new pair (which I'm not gonna do).

You don't wear cammies often though, thats true
