Bored@Butler

So...I found this website boredatbutler.com and was interested because it was a direct look into some real Columbia student thought. Sadly, the site just makes me sick. I want to stop reading it because it puts Columbia down so much, but I can't look away! I just need some reassurance from current students that the mean, depressed, sex addict, Columbia-hating students that post on that message board are NOT an example of what I would find if I were to attend the school. Feedback, please.

general rule with anything negative on the internet:

People who are mad like to *****, and the internet is convenient for that. People who are having fun don’t feel the need to use the internet to spread the joy.

For every mean person on there, 20 other students are having a decent time.

If every college had a Bored@Butler, you would see the same mean, depressed, sex addict, xxxx-College-hating students that you see on there. It’s college. People like that will exist no matter where you end up.

Complaining was the first major at the first university. People are much more likely to vent than to praise.

Well, don’t expect us to constantly be discussing Foucault and MBA plans either. We’re just as horny, depressed and hateful as the rest of them (perhaps more). The website just tends to showcase this. Though I just checked and they do seem particularly hateful of pre-froshers these days. Usually it’s people trying to hook-up in the stacks.

You know what they say: anonymity + audience = ******. I’m guessing it’s all mostly for laughs.

Top comment of the moment: "Haha, feminists are just women who aren’t living up to their sandwhich-making abilities. A generation of underachievers really. " lol, c’mon, that’s funny.

Judging Columbia by B@B is like judging a university by what’s written on the bathroom walls.

agreed. more people enjoy themselves than not. don’t worry :)
