Hi everyone :). I'm in 9th grade and in my school all freshmen have to take the same science class: physical science. We don't have an honors class or any other option.

I'm halfway through the semester and the class is still just a review of 6th grade material (what atoms and elements are basically). The class is a mix of all levels of students so we have to go REALLY slow as we "learn" the material. Anyway, the class bores me to death. Is there anything I can do to try and stay engaged (I almost fall asleep everyday).

Thank you all :D

Ask the teacher if you can do an independent project.

In 8th grade my school required everyone to take Earth Science so it was similar to your class with regards to pace and mixed levels. So everyone that got an A+ on a test did an independent study project the next unit. They would go to the library and research their topic during class and present it when they were done. They still had to take unit tests and do certain assignments (such as study guides) but they were exempted from the busy work.

Your teacher might be willing to let you do an independent study if you ask and have a good idea on your topic.

Same here. People in the class get confused about how to calculate density and P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2. .-.

@bailey that sounds awesome! I’ll definitely see if I can do that oh, yeah I had to do earth science in 8th grade also- very boring.

@thatoneweirdguy it’s annoying, huh?
