Is anyone else experiencing extreme difficulty with this BC admissions process? The date and time of the announcement changed so many times my teenager was obsessively checking his phone for days and then every three minutes last night. First the school tweets they are coming out- then changes it only to change it again. We sent our financial info in the fall and got a message in late Feb. that documentation is missing (though it was in there) and still haven’t confirmed they have it. my son’s other schools are emailing the date and time we can expect an email while BC changes its mind several times.
my question for current students is are they this disorganized when it comes to registering for classes because if so we need to really rethink this .
We are experiencing the same problem- they seem very disorganized just in my personal case. They still require you to mail financial information (which none of my other schools require) and I’m having trouble getting answers about financial information on the phone. I called yesterday and my questions did not seem warmly welcomed.
I’m a parent of both current and prospective BC students. I can’t speak to the timing of the admissions release- it may have had something to do with the huge Boston snowstorm early in the week. As far as organization, my son has never had any issues or problems with class registration or anything else. He does receive financial aid, and our dealings with the financial aid office have always been very pleasant. In his freshman year, we appealed his initial financial aid decision and received a higher award. The amount received has actually increased each year since then. Our family experience has been nothing but positive.
@karenlovely I do not believe BC changed the date and time. Granted, they do not offer a specific date and time when they send the email but their email said the week of 3/12. They then communicate via twitter when the decisions will be posted. They gave a range of 6pm - 9pm for rolling out decisions You are new here so understandable that you would not have seen the thread for the RD class of 2021 where there were posts about how the process would work from other students and parents. For any schools your son is waiting for decisions on, you may want to check the schools twitter accounts for updates. Congrats on your son’s acceptance.
We were on this page that night as kids were messaging that they were throwing up and pacing and freaking out because it was announced it would be released and then changed. And then it said by the end of the week and after that it said “tonight” but shortly after said it would take three hours. Obviously the issue is nobody should be able to get a play by play like this and the internet makes it worse but what a stressful night. Now there are kids who say they still haven’t heard yet. It just concerns me for when he needs to register for classes.
Wow thank you for that information. It is very helpful. Glad to hear your financial aid experience was a good one!! Hoping our paperwork gets through this time so we can start to figure things out. This is our first experience with any of this- this is the first college we have heard from so I have nothing to compare it to. He’s very happy at least he got in because there seem to be many who did not. So grateful for that.
@Stresspuppy while I haven’t gotten the fin aid yet (tomorrow) just in case, what did you do to appeal? Also, does it increase yearly with tuition increases? I’m worried about this!
I guess my daughter got lucky. She got the email at 6:20 on Thursday. She was able to open immediately and she got in
