Boston College EA 2021 Thread

We received an email saying we would hear the week of the 11th

What did they send last year? Same letter and also the 11th?

Wait so are we supposed to get letters the week of the eleventh? Meaning the online decisions come out earlier? Also does anyone know if the scholarship contenders are informed a week earlier ?

I think you will get an email with an electronic letter with your decision sometime the week of 12/11, but I"m not sure, it will at least say if you got honors and maybe if you are eligible to interview for the Gabelli Presidential, assuming that’s what you mean? That is the only merit aid that BC gives. The rest is need based and they are truly need blind.

Yep that’s exactly what I mean! In previous years the Presidential scholarship letters (that you qualify)) came out the week of the 18th, a week before the regular admissions. I was wondering if their timeline was moved up this year as well, but I guess there’s no way to know

@lhaffey Do you mean Early Action (you wrote ‘regular admissions’)?

According to this thread, Presidential scholarship packages went out after EA decision came out on the 18th, but it sounds like they included something about it WITH the EA acceptance. But not BEFORE.

Actually- according to this, the presidential scholarship stuff was snail mailed several days after the EA acceptance emails.

I got a long email yesterday from a current BC student telling me all the reasons he loves BC and encouraging me to reach out to him with questions I have during the process. I am wondering if this is some sort of form letter that others got as well. It was really positive and ended by saying, “I would love to hear from you – whether it be to share what you’re interested in now at your high school, how your college search is going, what you’re considering majoring in, what clubs you might like to try, or anything that you think makes BC seem like the right fit for you.” I don’t want to read much into this and get my hopes up for no reason … just curious if others received one of these emails and if anyone knows if it means anything.

@soulpup that sounds promising! My daughter did NOT get that and my other daughter that is at BC now never got that. I wonder if that person was supposed to wait until after decisions??

@collegemomjam Thanks for the encouragement. I’m hoping it’s a sign, but am hesitant to read too much into it. But it is interesting that it came out a week before EA decisions will be communicated.

Hey! I was just wondering if anyone knows when the Early Action decisions are being released. I haven’t been able to find the date yet. Thanks!

Decisions will be released via email the week of 12/11. Didn’t you get that email? Check your spam because that might be where your BC emails are going and you don’t want to miss that one!

Sorry I just checked again, I did receive that email. Thanks again!

Any speculation on what day next week?

I know I should know this, but what day of the week was it last year? That would be the only info to predict from…

Wednesday December 16th (last year). Before that it was snail mail that went out on a Friday.

Yes, my daughter who is a sophomore there now was the last snail mail year. My current daughter is now waiting to hear…

I’m still curious if anyone else received a long email from a current BC student laying out everything he/she loves about BC. The letter feels like a “sell” and encouraged me to think about the ways I’d fit into BC … did anyone else get one of these?

@soulpup didn’t get that no

@soulpup No and I honestly have never heard of that happening and I have been following the BC threads for a few years now (I’m an alum and kids have/are applying). Very interesting! It’s definitely not a BAD sign!

@soulpup I hate to burst your bubble but I can tell you that the email you received was from a student admissions volunteer and in no way shape or form has anything to do with your decision. The student volunteers are simply provided a list of email address to contact and we have no clue as to the students application status. I do wish you the best of luck in this process and by this time next week you will hopefully know where you stand.
In regards to the Gabelli program invite, there is no mention of the program in your emailed decision letter and the packets are usually snail mailed the day admissions are emailed out or just after. I can tell you that if you see no mention of the honors program in your emailed letter then you are out of the running for the program. You would have been admitted into the honors program if you were competitive for the scholarship.
