Boston College or Brandeis?

Hey guys!

I want to major in economics/finance, and later go into law school. Which one has a better chance of allowing me to get into a better law school or find work after graduation?

Also, at both places, I have been recruited onto a sports team. However, I don’t have to go to a school where sports is a really big thing. I just want to do it for fun.

I want to go to a school where everyone is friendly and people don’t pressure you into partying and drinking.

Where should I go? Thanks!

The ONLY thing you need for law school is a high gpa (+mcat). And since BC is D1, which requires a huge time commitment, it will more difficult to obtain a high gpa in Chestnut Hill. (And no, top law schools don’t give much gpa leeway to athletes.)

That’s LSAT, BlueBayou. MCAT is for med school. But yes, high grades and ultra high LSAT will do it.

Visit both schools. Both fine schools but completely different.

sry about the alpha brain freeze. :D

As a lawyer, I would say both schools are exactly equal when applying to law school

So go to the one you like best.

Thanks everyone! I went to both schools last week, and I liked both in different ways. I know that BC’s economics is ranked higher, and I will be going to the management school. Will that make a difference when applying for law school or getting a job?

Also, I don’t really want to party in college. Is BC a really big party school like everyone says?

Clippersfan - you say in a diffrent post on the BC pages that you’re Christian. Just make sure you’ll be comfortable at Brandeis which has a pretty strong Jewish orientation and population. From what I hear and read there are lots of Christians at Brandeis and they have no problem feeling comfortable, but you ought to make sure for yourself.

in general, law schools prefer liberal arts degrees over what they consider vocational degress, i.e., business. Econ would be a better major in BC’s A&S.
