Boston College RD 2022 Thread

@nerdalert18 BC will look at both.

Colleges that ask for a supplemental essay value them highly. (Otherwise, they would not waste everyone’s time.)

Since they value them highly, the supplementals are a key piece of the app. If nothing else, the supplemental is an strong expression of interest and if it is “trash” from your own perspective, what conclusion do you expect the Reader to end up with?

Protip to future applicants: take it seriously, spend some time on crafting a great story, and don’t blow it off.

Does anyone know how many people actually look at our applications? I’ve heard for some colleges it can be 2-12.

Did everyone see the Boston College Facebook post today? Applications up 9%, early apps up 15% over last year. Average admitted early action ACT 33.

Got an email today saying that decisions will be released on March 20th. Counting down the days!!!

Decisions come out March 20!!! good luck to everyone who applied

.

Does anyone know what time the decisions are released on March 20th?

@djin25 EA decisions were released around 5 so I’d assume the same

hey daniel jin!

Hey @ticklemepark who are you?

I didn’t get an email saying that… should I be worried?

Check your spam folder.

I didn’t get it either

I would call or email the admissions office if you didn’t get the email bc they could hv your email wrong

i didn’t get it either lol but i received an email to set up the portal right after i applied

for anyone that didn’t get the email, check w admissions office bc BC doesn’t send decisions via the portal

Chance me? I was deferred EA
3.9 GPA unweighted
1490 SAT (740/750)
4 year varsity hockey player
3 year varsity lacrosse player
Tons of clubs and extra curriculars
Leadership positions - Peer mentor
etc, etc

@youknowhowitis3 – Don’t be too disappointed about BC EA deferral. BC notoriously uses EA for the sports teams. So if there was someone at your school that already got accepted ED or EA whether for sports or got in thru legacy - that most likely is the reason you were deferred. not your qualifications.

EA deferral happened to my D 2 years back, and then she got in Regular admission, and BC said she was in the top 10% of all applicants. Go figure, right? For my D, the deferral was an insult to her, and I’m sure weighed on her decision not to go to BC. Her year a big track star from her school went to BC. Same thing happened to my son this year - was deferred EA – but we know a basketball player going from his school to play at BC. My D had high marks, my Son’s even better - so we fully expect him to get into BC at regular admission.

Regarding your chances, I have found that BC’s track record comparing acceptance/rejection stats over the last 10 years from your school to be very consistent. If you use Naviance, or something similar, I’m sure you’ve checked already. But in case you haven’t, do a search, and you will see a clear demarcation between acceptance/rejections from your particular school at BC. If you are above the demarc line, you have a strong chance. Below it, not too good. But other factors of course are taken into account. Good luck!
