When do deferred kids hear back?
Same as regular decision.
how are so many competive applicants not getting in…
BC takes whatever they want!
Has it been especially competitive this year?
All schools every year seem to say the same thing that it is more competitive.
We received the missing fin aid materials email. We did not request need-based fin aid on Common App but did send FAFSA. We just emailed to see if we really need to send the additional materials. BC is a match for my S.
We received the email and were deferred EA as well. This seems to be the common denominator here. I called at 9 the next day and was #13 in the line (already). The missing document was not really required according to the counselor it was an auto generated. Everything was on time.He said “ok you application for FA is now complete and will be under review”. Really ? With a week to go?? He did not comment one bit about admission.
This is all puzzling. It seems like the 11th hour to me.
But my husband says why would they waste office resources on applications that would be going into the reject pile.
I do think it is a very good sign no doubt, but I also think a waitlist is entirely possible as well.
I remain not too optimistic about these emails being indicative of actual positive news regarding admission. Given their volume and the fact that the admit rate off the deferred EA applications is really really low, it does not make me think that we will all get good news in a week. I think the FA office is doing their due diligence with a list of EA deferred candidates who popped up as having incomplete applications. Then they move to other lists to wrap up. I can’t tell whether it is in fact a list of admissions that we are all sitting on as what happened a month or so ago. But best of luck to everyone whether BC is a first choice, or one of many pending.
I would not characterize it that way. The admit rate of deferred EA applications in past years was usually around 20%, which was pretty much the same as the RD rate. (We will hopefully find out more about this year’s rate in the next few weeks.)
How do you know that the acceptance rate of the deferred applications is low?
@our4kds I would think the acceptance rate for ea deferred will be low just based on the sheer number of ea’s that were deferred. It was a very large number this year from what I’ve been told by counselors.
What exactly does the FA email say? I was deferred EA and got a similar email back in January, so I’m not sure if its the same as the email that people are receiving now. Thanks!
Also, does BC ever send out likely letters? I imagine that if they do they would send them with the admission decisions release date email.
next Thursday is the official date!
March 21
@Numba1Boii The FA email that I got this Monday says “Dear Student, Thank you for your interest in Boston College. We wanted to let you know that your financial aid application is not yet complete. Please click on this link (www.bc.edu/finaidapp) to check your most recent application status and submit the required documents to…”
Decisions coming next Thursday!!!
That could be a good sign. My daughter was one of the students that received the FA email at the beginning of Feb. that inadvertently let her know that she was admitted. Her email read “Dear Student, Congratulations on your acceptance to Boston College! We wanted to let you know that your financial aid application is not yet complete. Please click on this link to check your most recent application status and submit the req’d documents as soon as possible…” From what I understood from this situation was that the admissions office sent a list of students that they were going to accept and the FA was supposed to work on the packages. I really feel like it’s a good sign for you.
