I was deferred EA and received the email asking for documents, and I’m trying not to read to much into it but why are they asking me now for the documents when they did not ask me before EA decisions?
@lailalily I just put them in manila envelope and dropped at post office. I am east coast, so it should only take 2-3 days.
My son was missing docs but they didn’t ask for them. He sent them anyway.
That probably gave them a good chuckle in the admissions department.
@STEM2017 I think our boys applied to many of the same schools! I wish you both the best. The competition is fierce this year! I think each year it’s getting worse It’s a crap shoot for my S here, too.
Thanks @“VA–>NC” ! I wish you the same. He’s got some great options in his pocket. Just waiting on the loooong shots, and financial aid.
We received the email as well. Deferred EA
Applied for financial aid although don’t think we will get any. All docs were in a long time ago maybe October. The email was asking for a document that I don’t have but I understood why they were asking for it. I called, they were definitely very busy but friendly. They said they would put it on someone’s desk and that they would email me. I do see this as a good sign! Why would BC send out needless email to have their phone system inundated with calls (when I called I was put in a line of callers waiting)
With somewhere around 35-36k applications they can’t add needless work to their plates.
Remember this is a business and they are constantly trying to improve themselves and be more efficient.
Thoughts?
My two cents: I think this is a great sign for all who’ve received the email, given the FA office’s mistake earlier this winter when they accidentally notified people of their acceptance in much the same manner. For people who had all their FA paperwork in, I don’t think it means anything that you didn’t receive an email. Good luck to all of you!
@our4kids @COSpgsparent and others: I agree, there MAY be something to this. However, I still think the best evidence would be people who did not get the letter, who applied for FA, did not submit all the required documents, and BC is a real reach for them. If there are many people in this group, then it makes it far more likely that the FA letter is indicative of acceptance. We haven’t seen many, if any, of these people post. Until we do, I’m just going to assume it went to everyone who didn’t submit all the required documents.
Okay, but why ask for documents if they don’t need them? Seems like a lot of needless work/emails/mail to sift through. It is also the 11th hour. If they don’t know who they are accepting at this point I would be surprised. I imagine they are tying up loose ends and getting ready to let us all know.
With all that said I would not be surprised for a waitlist also.
Is there any way to check if my financial aid materials were received?
@MrRobot2018 I agree. BC is a huge reach for my daughter, but she got all her FA info in. She received an email from Admission earlier this year saying that she was missing info and her application would be withdrawn, but she managed to get it in very quickly (it was snafu on the part of her hs counseling department–in their defense, they’re really overworked). I don’t take that email as strongly, though, because it had a more automated voice to it than the one people are receiving from FA, and also because of the previous oops from FA (also overworked and trying to get a jump on things, I’m sure). I think BC is going to get some FANTASTIC students from their applicants, and I’ve been really pleased with the whole application process. Good luck to you!
Which email had a more automated voice? The one your daughter received saying application would be withdrawn?
Anyone knows when would the decision be came out?
@Dhk138 I think people are saying next Thursday 5:15ish–but I may be confused with another school at this point
@Dhk138 @"VA–>NC I have next Thursday 5:15 too. But they will email us this week I think with exact date
Received the Email. Missing my mother’s info, I need to find the Non-filer doc for Boston College though. IDOC had one but I can’t seem to find the one for BC.
Does anyone know if the financial aid comes with acceptance in email at the same time or if it comes in the mail later?

Thank you!
@our4kds Yes–the email saying they were about to throw out her application seemed like it was automatically generated. When we talked to Admission office everyone was very nice, though–seems like a great school.
