Boston College RD 2023

is it too late to send a loci?

@collegefuture8 This might help!: https://www.collegeconfidential.com/articles/is-mid-march-too-late-to-send-colleges-additional-information/

Does BC release in waves or all at once?

I got that email a little later than you… do you think that has any correlation with the decision?

Unless it is something major, then yes, too late. Save it just in case you get Wait Listed.

(major = state/national award, research published in top journal, and the like.)

Before the deadline, in February I received an Email from BC starting with “Dear Applicant,…” and reminded me about the upcoming deadline. The people who received the accidental acceptances email started with “Dear Student,” and the email we received a couple of days ago started with “Dear Student,”… Coincidence?

All of the emails that went out confirming the decision date were addressed Dear (your name), right?

@plzacceptme77 My email said Dear (your name), everyone else’s likely did as well.

Yes, Dear your name.

Does anyone know if schools send out a financial award letter when you are waitlisted? I mean when you find out that that was your acceptance not when you are taken off being waitlisted. Hope that is clear.

I was wondering if the first batch that received the email saying they were accepted are truly accepted and the second batch that were asked for some financial information are waitlisted???

There was quite a bit of time between when some got their accidental acceptance from financial aid and when we got the email from financial aid asking for information.

I just want to send you all good vibes for next week and to let you know that if you enroll at BC you will NOT be disappointed! My middle daughter is graduating this May and has had a wonderful experience there. And send in your aid paperwork–I was surprised at what she received each year. Everyone I have ever dealt with at the university has been great, not a single complaint in 4 years! It truly is a special place…Best of luck!

No, schools will never prepare FA packages for waitlisted students.

@our4kds I believe that in this case the FA email went out to EA or ED students that had not received admission yet. I think that all that got that letter did end up with acceptance and no waitlist. But I may have that wrong.

For this RD/waitlist round, it didn’t say “congratulations” like the previous mess up did. I think there is just a little hope/hype in putting two and two together and thinking the same thing will happen this time. The “likely” accepted kids got the email because FA is working on a package and they need to get their info processed. They did realize they needed to remove the"congrats" so it didn’t slip. Usually FA does come out after acceptance. I think some schools are able to process both at the same time, but not all.

@waitinginnh22 that is good news then (hopefully) I’ve thought about this so much. We got the email from financial aid asking for clarification on something which I think is a great sign.

@HuskyMom our EFC is pretty high, but with no merit and BC being pretty expensive I think we might get aid. Does BC look at tuition being paid on other children in Catholic schools K-12?

@our4kds If you haven’t already run BC’s Net Price Calculator, try that. BC seems to think it’s accurate.

I have and it shows no support : (

@our4kds We have one at ND and we pay almost full for her. It’s pretty astronomical. The good news is that it’s four years. Expect nothing, be happy if they give you a couple grand, that’s my motto.

is there a way to check to make sure that they got all of the required financial aid documents? I was really on top of submitting financial aid to all of my schools and sent all of the ones required/requested to BC before the due date.
If it helps, I applied RD! BC is my dream school so I really hope I get in!

Folks. Remember that when the email went out and notified them they were in, it was followed up immediately by the school. These students were the highest ranked applicants and a really really small number. I don’t think they would do it again. And if it was an early indication by mistake, especially after the last go around, you would have been notified imho.

But I would guess the minimum of a waitlist offer is in the cards for the majority of you. The group on cc tends to be the most diligent students and end up with good need from various schools.

@VA—>NC your last comment sounds very confident or that you may have some sort of inside intel? How do you know those kids ended up getting acceptances?
