Sure thing. I can help. There’s a direct message function you can use and I can help you. I also have a friend named @prezbucky who just launched a simple and inexpensive college match service. Not like a counselor but more give me all the information and I will customize a realistic list for you.
But he is also super helpful on here for free.
So email me using the dm. You need to have minimum number of posts before it turns on. If that’s the case. I will post a new thread here under questions for next year and we can move over to a quieter thread To discuss.
And so many people here will help. Beleive me in a year you’ll feel like a mini expert. Lots of parents become counselors or help kids for free.
I should clarify , I currently have a senior that has some great options but we are waiting with everyone else till Thursday to hear back from BC. We were one of the ones that got the email on Monday for clarification on taxes.
Just wanted to say that if financial aid reaches out to you asking for additional documents around this time … I believe it’s a likely acceptance. Not certain, but Johns Hopkins and Northeastern did this with me, and I was accepted to both institutions! Hopefully this is a good sign for Boston
This year there were a few people on here who got asked for documents and then rejected. It’s often the case that FA and Admissions work independently, so I wouldn’t read into it too much.
@our4kds This was on the Northeastern forum a few days ago though I don’t have the specific post at the moment. I’ve also seen the same occurrence in prior years
Anybody have any suggestions on how to pass the time before colleges (including BC) all come out in the next 2 weeks? Haha trying to focus on schoolwork/AP exam prep at the moment, but that’s difficult as well.
@AwaitingApplicant131 I feel your pain. I am anticipating 3 answers this this week for my S19. Of course they won’t be till Thursday & Friday, but not sure I can hang on that long! This week is going to last forever
Agree with everyone here; the waiting makes you second guess everything if you think too much. Wishing we found out about everything all at once @AwaitingApplicant131 Maybe try spending time doing other non-academic things too since they’ll take your mind off of it.
I wish we could go back to when they would roll out the letters along the way. Like when “by April 1” meant that you will probably start hearing between Feb and April 1. Might help their websites not crash
BC’s acceptance rate for my school tends to be much lower, in the higher teens. So frustrating considering half the people I know that applied aren’t interested/have been accepted to their top choice. My cousin (same school) is in at his top 3 including Northeastern and still is keeping his BC app in even though he isn’t interested, and he has a much stronger application than me. At this point I’m thinking I would be very lucky to get waitlisted. Wishing everyone here good luck!
I was deferred EA. I was just recently accepted to Holy Cross w/ $10k merit scholarship and Bentley Honors Program w/ $30k Presidential Scholarship. I’m thinking that’s a good sign for BC? Rejected from Northeastern though.
That’s not very nice to say about NE. My daughter was accepted there with excellent grades and SAT scores. To say the two candidates above are too excellent for the school is a slap in the face to those who were accepted. Let’s hope everyone in this thread is accepted to BC if that’s their wish, but please don’t cut down other universities for the sake of placating students who were not accepted there.
