So when will the decisions be released?
My post above was referring to @privatebanker from his/her post on 3/16.
@f2000sa bc emailed last week saying decisions would be emailed thursday evening. they didn’t give a specific time though
@elvisdadog. This is a BC thread and I was a bit over zealous helping a student feel ok about a rejection. You are right. I was perhaps more concerned with kids feeling down than making sure the others maintained their excitement.
This isn’t a NEU thread but if you are perusing the bc thread and if you’re accepted to NEU — you should be happy already!
And it wasn’t just hubris. But it’s not the time or place to go down the NEU rabbit hole on yield, ranking games and etc .
It is what it is and a tremendous achievement.
And yes the admitted student should indeed be very proud.
I think NEU is a great school and congrats!
Thank you @privatebanker. My D is excited to be accepted at NU, but BC is a top choice school for her. She was deferred EA and is very worried she may not get in. Both schools (and many others) offer great things that even some Ivies don’t and she would be over the moon with a BC offer. She was just a bit upset with the word8 g that two students were “too excellent” for NU. Maybe they were not the right fit.
Do financial packages come out with acceptance?
Anyone else’s “email service” link in the AGORA portal open up recently? It used to be grey with a slash next to it but now it’s blue and can be opened? Once opened, it displays a message: “The email address you provide will be used for the following services, AFTER your BC Email Account has been deactivated:”. I scoured my inbox for half an hour and there is no sign that I ever got a BC email address.
I also received the Financial Aid email on 3/11 (deferred EA), emailed them back the next day indicating that I will not be applying. Never got an email back, so I called them yesterday. They said that they have made note of it, and if I get any more to ignore them. I have no idea what this means, and at this point I think I’m just reading tea leaves.
Mine is the same but not sure if it was always like that? Never got a BC email address
Mine is the same
the email thing has opened up for me; no idea if that’s a good thing or not.
It’s up for me too… I was deferred EA and got the financial aid email a couple weeks ago. Trying to not get my hopes up though
my email thing is the same as yours and I did not get the email y’all are talking about. I applied RD and all FA documents were submitted ontime. Not really expecting to get in as my stats are good but I dont think they compare to most I see on here. I hope you all get good news on Thursday. I for one will die from surprise If I get good news
@happytimesforever don’t be discouraged! cc users are usually really diligent students (and have constant anxiety lol). while there are some pretty strong applicants on here, i don’t know if the stats of a group on cc are indicative of the quality of the entire applicant pool. good luck and dw
Just joining this thread as the day draws near. S1 applied. 36 ACT, 1560 SAT, leadership and service strong, 4.0 UW gpa at a competitive Jesuit private school. ECs not great due to 6 day/wk rower all 4 years 11 mos/yr. NMF. BC was my favorite campus of the 6 we visited. Not sure what his chances are but hopeful he gets good nees. He loved the club rowing coach and team but the school was just ok for him bc of his desired major in astrophysics and the larger size than most of the schools he applied to. If accepted I’m hoping he will re visit. He has been accepted to 3 state schools, and Trinity, deferred SCEA to Harvard and waitlisted at UChicago last week. BC and Amherst this week, Tufts and 3 ivies next week. Good luck to everyone. BC seemed like an ideal college to attend when we visited!
@privatebanker I am a parent and have enjoyed your post. I have some questions about my daughter. I tried to dm you but bc I just joined, I don’t think it will let me.
Interesting mix of privates. (Don’t usually see major urban R1 Unis and rural LACs on the same common app, particularly given the prospective major.)
btw: while H is no slouch in anything, Chicago and Columbia have been ranked slightly higher in Astrophysics in recent years.
Good luck to all.
@nrsebayer Hi and congrats on your son’s strong credentials. As a BC student (junior) please excuse my clear bias but I visited the Amherst Campus on 3 separate occasions and each time it was dead. No buzz, no excitement no electricity. Rather depressing if you ask me. The town is also equally unremarkable.
@bluebayou yes he really had no idea what he wanted early on so he is all over the place. Hs AC landed on tufts and Amherst for him. He really loved tufts and has a spot on the rowing team if accepted. H was always his top choice but Chicago had the astrophysics draw for him. Did not love the campus unfortunately. A little too urban for him but would consider if admitted bc of the physics piece and our extended family is all in Chicago. State schools were safety choices and much larger than he wants. IMO BC checked all the boxes but since he’s attending and not me we have left it up to him. Did not apply to Columbia after visiting. Also too urban despite an official visit offer for rowing.
@bbfan1927 we have not visited Amherst. Hs counselor flagged it as a possible good middle of the road fit for him so he applied. Visited BC and Tufts same day. He loves the Boston area. Tufts campus really spoke to him and the coach guaranteed him a spot on the team if admitted. BC club coach and team he really enjoyed. Could not have made him feel more welcome. Took him to breakfast after an early morning practice then drove him to tour site. Couple of the guys even stayed to meet me before the tour. I loved the whole vibe at BC and the campus is breathtaking.
D’s Roommate is a rower. It’s way more work than one would imagine. And BC is tougher academically than they imagined too. Roommate had double sessions during spring break. Never left campus. After midterms. 5am wakeups. It’s tough. If you are potentially an Olympian or full scolly I get it. Otherwise. Club sport or hit the gym.
