I will not have access to the engineering major but I can take a couple of their engineering classes. It wont count towards a minor or anything but will fill some requirements
OP- have you not taken calc at all yet? Or a calc based physics class?
if not, you might want to table the notion of engineering until you do. Just focus on starting strong first semester- and then re-evaluate. You may want to transfer, you may not. But excelling in calc and physics is the first step!
I have already taken calc and physics in high school
Terrific!
Which engineering-adjacent courses can you take freshman year at BC?
So others may and have disagreed - but especially if youâre looking to transfer -
We did the student panel at Col School of Mines and the students told the attendees that for core major classes (Calc and Physics), they should retake, even if credit for AP.
My son didnât listen - and had to WD from Calc 2 (even with a 5 in Calc AB).
So if you are looking to transfer, you may consider that notion - if for nothing else to ensure your BC transcript is strong. According to him it was more a bad prof than not understanding - but he was given the instruction from engineering students and didnât heed.
Good luck.
OP, I understand why you couldnât turn down Carroll. Great opportunity.
Iâm thinking you should reconsider a few things.
Youâre taking Calc and Physics in the fall. Why? Youâve already taken them in HS. You wonât learn much and you canât transfer to BC engineering. Plus theyâre a lot of work and can be a time suck. Theyâll take away from your business classes. Protect your GPA when you can. If you transfer, itâll be the first thing they look at.
Maybe look for other engineering classes? Most engineering programs have a few intro to engineering classes about the profession.
If you decide you want engineering youâre most likely looking at another 4 years anyway or at least a few summer classes.
You can go to any ABET school. UMass would be an obvious choice.
Good luck.
I can only take a couple of introductory engineering classes freshman year
Can you cross register for an intro engineering class at BU, Northeastern or even MIT?
