Boston College v. U of Michigan LSA Honors

I’ve heard back from all of my colleges, and my final decision right now is betwee the University of Michigan LSA Honors Program and Boston College! I have no idea what I want to major in, maybe psychology or political science – no idea!

I live in New Jersey, so Boston College wins location-wise, but I am jewish and liberal, so I’m worried that I won’t fit in at Boston College. Sports are really important to me, and so are campus vibe, location, academics, and student body.

Price is not really a factor because I’ll be paying a ****load at both :(

Any thoughts/comments to help me make my decision?

Two excellent choices. I don’t think you can wrong with either. I assume you have seen them both and liked them equally. UofM has a much more diverse student body than BC, and you are sure to find minded people there. I cannot speak to how you will feel about being at a Catholic School, that is a personal thing. I cannot imagine that there would be any discrimination or that the students would not be welcoming, but if you are very religious BC might not be the best fit. Only 2% of the student body is Jewish. I went to a Catholic college and was not catholic, and was perfectly content. However, I was not religious. Best of luck and congrats at having two fine schools from which to choose.

while Mich may be more diverse religiously, it is actually less diverse racially/ethnically: Michigan is 65% white; BC is 58%.

OP: BC is very welcoming, and even has several Jewish faculty members teaching Theology courses.

Both are awesome schools; visit and choose the one that could call ‘home’ for the next four years.

Congrats and good luck.

Both great schools. You might find this of interest
