^ I think this would be my justification. Being from the Boston area, everybody raves about BC, while the name Claremont McKenna is much less well known. Again, both are great schools, and I do think the geographic bias does play a part.

I think that xcjimmy attends BC, hence his bias. It is true that, within the Catholic community, BC is very well known and highly regarded. However, from a more universal perspective, and according to rankings, Claremont McKenna is the better school.

CMC is a great school and although they have a Division 3 program it is fairly good. My D did div 1 cross country/track and field in college and it was hugely demanding, you end up spending every second you are not sudying with the same group of track friends. Div 3 is less intense but still competitive and offers more time for all the diversity of interests and opportunities available in college. When my D became injured and could no longer run at Div 1 she was able to join student government and get involved as a student ambassador etc. My S who played Div 3 at Pomona cross country and track never felt it took over his life. Just another aspect to consider. CMC is an amazing school and there are so many opportunities within the consortium. I would choose that in a heartbeat and I am a Tufts graduate originally from the Boston area.
