I have been accepted to both UCLA and BC, and I come from Texas. I'm interested in pre-med. I have weighed the pros and cons for both schools, and I am completely conflicted. I like the size of BC and the individualized premed program they have there (interviewing workshops, premed committee/center, MCAT prep). I come from a Jesuit high school, and so I really like the Jesuit mission, etc. However, I know that UCLA's biochemistry program is nationally ranked, and research/internship opportunities there are abundant. I also prefer LA to Boston, although both are wonderful cities. I am definitely interested in Greek Life, and so I also feel that UCLA would be great with the social scene. Nonetheless, I am completely torn.

Any advice? I'm also a little unaware of the premed program at UCLA. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

Two very different schools, public versus private and everything that goes with that and it’s hard for private school folks to switch to public, I really get that. I am sure UCLA would be more of a struggle in terms of school (larger, not hand holding like a private), but there can be good life lessons in that. Boston would be more of a struggle in life, mainly weather which is a huge deal if you haven’t been through it. Know more than a few that didn’t adjust well. Did you go to either campus? UCLA way more diverse if that means anything to you. Boston in great traditional city, UCLA campus is beautiful and is what socal dreams are made of. Can’t answer the pre-med stuff, hopefully someone will and get all over the website. At the engineering conference they spoke a lot about having the UCLA med center and everything right there and all disciplines feeding off each other and into that, so I would think there are good options for you, but I just don’t know about that. Good choices, any cost difference that matters?

I would go to UCLA.
