I was wait listed as well… My stats are not so great only 1750 SAT. Subject test: Spanish 800, French 680, world history 600… I think my ECs are what got me on the wait list( Captain of FBall team, NHS, service projects, etc…) and the fact that I only came to the US 4 years ago with no knowledge of English ( I am a US citizen). I was already accepted by Rutgers (full ride), fordham , and NYU. BC is still my top choice though, so I was wondering how necessary is it to write that letter to admission stating that if you get accepted you will go there. Won’t they be annoyed by it? What about the visit? Thanks so much in advance

hi there bassinator, there are many varying suggestions for how to express interest to the admissions officers at this time of waiting; after speaking with my college counselor, she advised me to wait until mid to late april to send an email to both the director of admission (john mahoney) and my regional counselor. This email should be fairly short, including any new awards/honors received and a reaffirmation of your utmost interest in the school. But as someone wrote earlier in this thread, do not include any info that you already expressed in your prior emails to them or in your application. In past years, bc officers have called a select few of wait listers simply to determine if their interest is still there, so a brief, sincere email would save them the trouble of possibly giving you a phone call to find out.

and, as i am currently out of the country on a trip, i am unable to call the admission office without have to pay for a collect call, so if anyone has any plans to call them anytime soon, could ya please ask them what the relative size of the accepted students to the connell school of nursing is i would so much appreciate it!!

@bassinator- The letter to the admissions office is extremely important. They need to hear why you feel BC is the best fit for you and what you plan on getting involved with. They do not find these letters annoying!!! As far as another campus visit goes, that is completely up to you. You must let admissions know that if you were offered a spot from the waiting list, you would take it. Good luck!!!

Correction: a better letter is to explain why you are good fit for BC, what you have to offer the community.

I just ran across this reply on another CC thread - well written message:

*The waitlist is not ranked, so let them know of your continued interest. But get ready to love your back-up choice. Really - the best school for any student is the one that loved them most. It’s not the school that “makes” a student. It’s the student who is able to take advantage of the opportunities in a wide variety of settings. *

does anyone have any anecdotal evidence as to how many people from there school have gotten into BC and are planning on attending? I know one person in my school applied but I’m fairly sure he is not attending…

I will be declining BC. Got big offer of merit aid elsewhere. So that’s a potential spot in the BC business school. I suspect lack of merit aid means many students turn down BC. As well as schools like Villanova and wake forest. Was admotted to all three business schools, which are all excellent. But won’t pay full price when other schools offer excellent merit aid

i dont know why im so nervous about this… BC is still my top choice. what are some of the other colleges that you all are looking at?? and has anyone drafted their letter yet?

I got waitlisted too! Where do you find the right email to send to the director of admissions?

address the letter to the persno who signed your WL letter – that person is likely your regional rep.

@SeniorPanic- you can probably find it online @bluebayou is this not the list <a href=“Admission - Boston College”>Admission - Boston College; ?? is there a difference between admission counselors and regional rep/director of admissions? should you send the letter to both the admissions office and the regional rep?

^^yup, that will work.

Daughter just declined acceptance. Lousy Financial Aid.

Business

good luck!

I’m actually really nervous about the wait list. I also got wait-listed at the University of Chicago, but BC has always been at the top of my list. I’ll email the rep with a letter and a list of new accomplishments since my application was submitted, but should I also send in a recommendation? Also, I’m a legacy (and I don’t want to sound snobby or entitled or anything like that), but does that have an effect on admission? The regional officer that came to my school first semester made it seem like it was definitely taken into consideration. Do you guys have any idea?

@seniorbabyy- Although being a legacy is taken into consideration, the most important step to take would be to write a letter stating the fact that if you got off the list, you would definitely take the spot. Also, include your most recent accomplishments/awards and state why you feel BC is the school for you. You should include what you plan to bring to the BC community. Good luck!!

does anyone have ideas about when we will hear back from the waiting list? I have never awaited something so much in my life

@dudefromMA i think it says before july 1st. from the readings of the previous threads on CC from the past couple of years, it will be by mid-june ish… i think…

BC normally starts accepting off of the WL in early May – it just depends on the yield (deposits received).

June 30 is the target date to close the WL.

Good luck.

My daughter declined her acceptance to CAS. Hope it opens a spot for someone on the wait list. Good luck!

Where is everyone else putting their deposits into (just curious)? I’m now committing to CWRU. Hopefully I’ll get off the waitlist at BC, but slowly losing hope day by day
