Boston College- Waitlist for Class of 2018

@chuckly, Princeton Review’s 377 best colleges book said 347 people were admitted off the waitlist last year but i think only 72 people accepted BC’s offer. This means that only 72 people officially came off the waitlist because they deposited. That doesn’t mean that BC didn’t offer to more than 72 people. Stay hopeful but still love your plan B school!

@sunshine022‌ oh I understand now. Thanks for the explanation! That eases my mind a tiny bit more  its kind of difficult to keep my mind off of this even with the graduation coming up. Good luck everyone (w/ the waitlist and if you are taking those APs

Called admissions today, they said they haven’t started looking at waitlist applications yet :frowning: Other schools have already started going to their waitlists. What do you y’all think this means? Last year, the earliest people heard back was May 14th, does it seem reasonable that people may hear back around this time this year?

@sunshine022- I think mid May is probably a good target date for waitlisted students to hear back. Around that time you can also look at your agora portal for an F and a P tab. If these tabs are present, you have been admitted and your letter will be arriving shortly after through snail mail. Good luck!! I know many students that were admitted last year from the list.

whats the latest date we can hear by? june 1 or july 1?

@rtv2014‌ I believe it’s June 30

@sunshine022 did students really start hearing then (by may 14th)? I just really want to know before graduation so I can have everything in order but I am almost inclined to move to the college that I have committed to…

@chuckly The waitlist thread for the class of 2017 says that letters for the first wave of offers were mailed on May 13th! Another wave of letters were mailed on May 15th (I think). I’m sure it varies every year though and you don’t know what wave you’ll be in even if they do make an offer to you. I totally feel. It’s so frustrating because most of my friends know where they’re going (most of them are going to their first choice). We just have to be patient  Good luck though!!! Even so, Case is a great school though I understand that you want BC more. Hope it’ll turn out well!

The letters should be mailed any day now

@sunshine022‌ yeah most of my friends are going to their first choice or at least a school that they’ve fallen in love with and are happy at. Its all kind of annoying. So if you don’t get a yes letter in the first round does that mean that you rnot accepted off of the waitlist? Kind of confused about that…

@chuckly if you don’t get a letter in the first round of offers, you may still be admitted! They’ll most likely send offers in different waves. For example, let’s say BC needs to fill 200 spots and they offer admission to 200 students in the first wave but only 30 or so accept, this means that there are 170 spots left so BC will continue to make offers until they meet their targeted 200. Even if you’re not in the first wave, there’s still hope! It just depends on how many people accept their position off the waitlist. :)

Hey guys. Have you guys seen any changes in Agora Portal yet? It’s really nerve wrecking!

@rach00‌ I have been checking consistently for the past days but I haven’t had the chance to check this weekend. Personally I’m keeping my hopes low so if something happens it will be a surprise

@sunshine022 thanks so much for the clarification! i just checked agora- no change yet :frowning: but hopefully we can both get off the waitlist. btw thanks for all of your support through this  its nice to see someone else on CC who gets it along with the other people who posted things  made this process a little bit easier to stand!

@chuckly have you called them regarding the waitlist statistics? I’m afraid it’ll be harder to get in for me since I personally applied to the business school…but the thing is at my school only 9 people decided to attend this year and 28 did last year! so maybe that’s a sign!

@rach00‌ i called once but with senior year wrapping up everything is happening really fast!! I applied to the college of arts and sciences. I also.know that I think no one from my school is going and one person from our rival HS was accepted but is going to cornell. Hopefully that will bode well for all of us cause many people who were accepted at BC my decide to go elsewhere. The business school at BC is really good though. Good luck :)

@chuckly Thanks! Glad I could be of some help
and @rach00 though it will be a lot harder to get off the waitlist at CSOM, it’s still possible. Last year, there were people who got off.
Best of luck to you both!

it might be possible, if BC has read any of these threads, that they have fixed the glitches in the agora portal so we don’t see a difference before we receive a letter in the mail! Just a thought. Good luck

@charstabes‌ touche- hadn’t thought of that… well we will figure out soon i guess…

@rach00 if you look online you should be able to find the waitlist stats for BC in general (not so sure about CSOM though). here are the ones that i have been looking at: <a href=“Boston College Acceptance Rate | CollegeData”>http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=144</a>
i think @sunshine022‌ said that there were more than 72 students were taken off the waitlist but 72 actually accepted.
