@claraadactyl apologies if that’s how I came off. I simply meant that BC has a good yield every year and therefore, not many waitlist spots. BC goes to their waiting list every year and your post made it sound as if there was no chance they would this year. Also, it is highly irregular for an admissions rep to give out this sort of information so I was a little surprised. I just wanted everyone reading this to know that there is still hope!!

I really just want to know whether I got in. The waitlist is a horrible limbo to be in right now, can’t even seem to enjoy the end of senior year!

where did everyone deposit?

@lalala777 I deposited at Brandeis, which is a fantastic school academically but I just don’t feel very strongly about it and am unsure if it’s the right fit for me. However, like the advice I was given, I am trying to turn my attention toward Brandeis due to the low chance of getting off the waitlist

@sunshine022 Brandeis is a fantastic school! One of my friends applied this year, and that’s where she’s going next year I committed to Case Western but Boston College is where I would love to go. This waitlist is killing me though…

@chuckly I have a friend who will be attending Case and she is in love with it. It’s all she can talk about I feel you though, this waitlist is really frustrating because they don’t share with us the yield (which is understandable of course) so you really have no clue what’s going to happen and the chances are slim. Best of luck to us both though I live in Chestnut Hill and I would love to continue to attend college here.

@sunshine022 thanks!! that’s really good to know. I actually liked the campus there, and everyone was SOOO helpful there (one of the best things about case). Brandeis is really fantastic and you should be proud that you got in there. Best of luck to the both of us, and honestly everything will work out in the end. Chestnut hill is gorgeous you are lucky to be living right there!

Not really. I attended a late Spring admissions session a couple of years ago, and that is exactly what the Regional Rep said publicly, to all of the underclassmen and parents who were in attendance. (The Rep was senior, btw, with several years of experience at BC, so not a rookie mistake.) Of course, if you parse the words, what exactly does, “we met our goal this year” mean besides, perhaps spin? (Just boca they met the enrollment goal by April 30, does not mean that they also do not have an enrollment goal in June.)

Are any of you guys planning to go to Med/dental school?

@SeniorPanic, I want to be either a nurse practitioner or a physician’s assistant, which is why I would love to go to bc’s nursing school!

Anyone know anything new?

I called yesterday and I was told they have not started looking at the waitlist yet.

My daughter is waitlisted at 2 places but BC is her passionate first.

I called today and they said the same. They are still finalizing the admitted students from May 1st.
You guys may find this article interesting as well:
http://www.bcheights.com/news/admissions-in-for-the-class-of-2018-1.3159582#.U2k-kfldW24

It says that no matter if they are above, below or meet their targeted yield, they will take people off the waitlist because they expect 5% to withdraw their acceptance after getting off waitlists at other schools. 5% is roughly 113 people and BC will offer more than 113 people to come off the waitlist because not all will accept. Good luck to everyone!!

@SeniorPanic I am thinking about medical school as a psychiatrist (hopefully child/adolsecent psychiatry) but that’s all subject to change. @sunshine022 that article eases my mind a bit. last year i think someone posted about learning about the waitlist on the day of the AP Calc test (tommorow i think which hasn’t changed since last year)!! Too nervous about this…

@chuckly I think the decision will come out later than the ap calc test since they haven’t even started reviewing the waitlist applicants yet. Maybe in a week or two?

@sunshine022 true, i just remember that someone metioned something like that on one of the previous waitlist threads that I was obsessing over a couple weeks ago. Probably we will get word sometime soon. Anyone know when the waitlist will be resolved by (like when we will definately know by)?

@chuckly June 30th at latest!

@sunshine022 @chuckly I’m pretty sure the earliest anyone heard is mid may, meaning may 14 at the earliest.

@sunshine022 thanks for the info! So I also checked the college data sets that you can Google online but it said last year that only 72-73 people got off the waitlist for BC…idk what to think…
