Boston College, Wake Forest, and UConn chances from GWU

I applied to all these schools in HS and was waitlisted at all three. UConn (I am an in-state resident) must have waitlisted me because there wasn't spots available. I applied on December 30th and the deadline was January 1. BC I never got off. I got off Wake's but had to say no for financial reasons. My parents now say they wouldn't mind paying the extra price tag for Wake. Is the fact I was waitlisted a hinderence, helpful, or no effect whatsoever? I will make it clear in Wake's application that I had to reject them for finanxial reasons

Freshman at GWU

Chem major and I am a pre-med

College GPA 3.68

My ECs in college aren't fantastic. I am a member of GW Republicans. I think the most attractive thing I offer in terms of college ECs is that next semester I am working two 4-hour shifts at GW emergency room for a intro. to clinical research class.

bump for help

anyone have any clue?

Boston College- reach
Wake Forest-mid reach
UConn- surprised you didn’t get in str8 out of hs. match

I honestly think you have a decent shot at BC and wake. At the same time your a lock for Uconn. Though I really don’t know too much since I am a freshmen too and this is what I can speculate. All I would try to do is improve your gpa as much as possible. I hoped that helped and you get better feedback too.

Thanks for the help.

OrsonSwells, why do you think I am a reach for BC? Is my GPA too low? I was reading their site and for 2008/2009, the average college GPA was 3.58 and the average SAT was 1937; I am well above both those. I know its hard to convene across a computer, I am not attacking you or anything, I am just curious because I don’t know much about the transferring process.

Also, would you say my college semester has improved or hurt me overall as a candidate, especially one who was waitlisted at all three schools and got off the waitlist at WFU?

I’m glad you read their transfer admissions website, something I should have done. I was under the impression that Bc’s transfer acceptance rate was significantly lower than their freshmen rate based on the numerous posts I’ve investigated these past couple of months.

Your gpa is great, especially considering you’re a 1st semester frosh. Trust me, you’ll be fine.

Thanks Orson, from their site their transfer acceptance rate is slightly lower, but i am thinking due to the the average GPA and SAT stats they gave that the candidate pool is just weaker. Their site also lists all the schools they had transfers from last year and IMO GW is better than most and on par with the better schools on the list i.e.

bump one more time

one last time

one last bump and that is it
