Transferring to UConn

I am a freshman at GWU, so it's at best a lateral move. I just don't know if this place is right for me. I would love to be closer to my family (I don't want to sound like a baby , but I am an 8 hour ride away from my home. I would like to be able to go home for the weekend more often then I do. I also have a ton of friends at UConn). I would also like a traditional campus with more school spirit. Problem is that I was waitlisted at UConn due to the fact that despite applying before the deadline I applied too late; there wasn't enough space despite me being over-qualified.

Here are my stats...
3.75 UW HS GPA
All honors and APs
680/690/700 SAT
Leadership in clubs

Taking Calc II, Gen Chem, Intro Phil., Intro Russian and E. Europe Affairs, and Intro Econ.

At worst I will have a 3.4 GPA after first semester with a more likely 3.6 or 3.8

Active in GW Republicans

Oh yeah, let it also be known that they offered me a spot at a regional campus, but I never replied. It was rude, but what they did to me was a slap in my face,

Despite having stats competitive for the honors program, they waitlisted me.

I did not get a respone from them until the third week of April despite repeated calls.

When I got that waitlist noticed, I immediately called the admissions office to ask how this was possble (I wouldn’t have done this for a private or OOS school, but UConn is my state school that is much more affordable than places like Wake Forest and Villanova that offered me very little aid.) The ad. officer quickly looked at my stats and said, “You are definitelly qualified. Let me look over everything and call you back.” He never called me back.
