How hard is it to transfer into B.C.? i know they have a pretty low transfer rate...I was waitlisted when I applied out of high school. I expect about a 3.7 my first semester at university of delaware honors program and had a 4.8 out of 5.2 gpa in high school with 32 on the act's. any thoughts?

You're competitive for the transfer.

Any reason why they have such a low transfer rate with a regular acceptance rate of over 30 percent? any chance they'll increase transfer acceptances?

Correction: the regular acceptance rate for 2010 was 29%, it's expected to be 27% this year.

The simplest answer is most students at BC don't transfer to other schools or drop out. So you don't have a lot of spots to give to transfer. Furthermore, getting housing at BC is a pain in the bum. Finally, there are alot of students that want to transfer to BC, and surprisingly they are of high caliber. I'm going to guess (it's a guess so don't quote me on this) that BC is actually within the reach of a lot of good students who happen to go to a less well-known or lower ranked schools, and they don't beleive they could get into Ivy-transfer so BC becomes their default choice.

That assumes that the transfer accept rate is contingent on retention rate. I'm not sure if that is the case for BC; you haven't corroborated the claim. It definitely isn't the case for many schools: Rice, Georgetown, Harvard, and Yale, for instance, boast pretty consistent admit rates.

If anything, the transfer acceptance rate is contingent on the amount of freshmen who are accepted, which is the case for places such as Duke and Brown.
