In terms of teaching quality, career service and social scene (or any other significant factors) which one of the above would you recommend? I applied all of them for a marketing major, I know that for business, bentley and fordham are better than BU. But seems that BU is more well known than the other two (and better?) in general.

Fordham. The Jesuit education is spectacular. You are known personally by faculty and if you excel, they will open HUGE doors for you. Location, location, location.

There are also spectacular interdisciplinary programs if you want to spread your wings.....even for CBA kids. And its a great social scene.

Fordham kids are tight. And outstanding overseas study opportunities as well, including the London School of Economics where Fordham has close ties.

U2 played on campus three weeks ago at 800am in the morning, on Good Morning America, for free. It was a rocking campus on that Friday morning. U2 stayed afterwards to SOCIALIZE with the students, give autographs and hugs. It was quite a scene.

thanks very much endlessrecession, but what do you think about the name of fordham in US? or about its career service? is it well connected?
one concern for me is that i might return to HK after i graduated, and it SEEMS that BU is more famous here. but many ppl criticize its career department

the overseas study opportunities sound very interesting, will take a look, thanks!

BU and fordham both got great location but fordham has a campus... does BU only have different colleges/buildings around rather than a campus?

thank you gada too, bentley is a business focused school in boston, its actually quite good for business but i may want to take minors in other criteria so i can't really decide now

Bentley is very close to Boston also, very different schools. If you don't want the urban location then Bentley is for you....but you could get to downtown Boston easily.

Fordham draws a lot of international students every year. Its very well known. But I dont think that "prestige" should be your overriding decision. What is more important is whether its the right setting for you. I don't bash schools. (I take heat from others on other threads for being an optimist and perhaps pollyanna). What I can tell you is that Fordham will give you an outstanding education, on a classic campus, with close friends and amazing opportunities. It has an MBA campus in Beijing. Its language programs are superb, including Mandarin. Yes, I am biased. But with good cause.

Fordham's alumni association is very close knit and zealous. Hundreds of companies recruit on Fordham's campus. They have superb internships available.

It may come down to whether you prefer Boston over New York, or vice versa.

Go with Fordham better networking opportunities due to location. Also i have yet to come across a BU alum/student (Im sure they are floating around). Fordham has decent recruiting as well.

Bentley has great faculty that are approachable and willing to help students whenever needed. The faculty to student ratio is 1:13 and average class size is 25, so students never feel like a number on campus. As for career services, over 90% of students complete an internship and have a lot of corporate partnerships with companies that not only bring students in for internships but also hire them after graduation! Social scene-wise, there are over 100 student organizations and with Bentley being 10 miles west of Boston, there are tons of things going on for students to jump into!
Best wishes during your final decision…

I am an undergraduate student at Bentley right now and am actively looking at undergraduate schools for my little sister via this site. I came across this posting and thought I might be able to give you some incite as to what it is like to be a Bentley student.

I would agree that BU has a better reputation in the international community, but Bentley has a better reputation in the business world. The relationship that the Bentley Office of Career Services has developed with major corporations facilitates the job search process for students. Being a senior at Bentley and looking for jobs during one of the worst economic crisis that our country has ever faced, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of the presence of this office on campus. Fortunately, I was able to secure a full time position for after I graduate last November, due in large part to the aid that I was given from Career Services.

On a lighter note, the social scene on campus is much different from what you might find at BU. BU is right on the green line in Boston, and really doesnt have a defined campus. It is literally part of the city. Bentley on the other hand is located a couple of miles outside of the city in its own campus. Bentley has one of the highest percentages of students that stay on campus all four years, and thats because campus life rocks. There is always something to do on campus but in the event that you want to get out for a while, there is a shuttle service that brings you into the city.

People in the corporate world believe that people who earn their degrees from Fordham are more like ‘Cracker Jack box degrees.’ I would definitely pick BU because it is more nationally acknowledged and everybody knows of it. While Bentley has a great business program, many people are still in the dark about Bentley, so seeing Bentley University on a resumee isn’t much help. I would definitely go to BU. My dad went there and he graduated Magna Cum Laude and had job offers right out of college. Good luck!

Ashley is a ■■■■■ and doesn’t know how to spell “renown” (go through her prior posts) so I wouldn’t trust her advice. Anyways BU and Fordham are solid schools. I’d give Fordham the slight edge especially if your going for finance. I have also heard horrendous things about BU’s career services.
