Hey everyone. I've been a straight A student all my life, but I hit a rough patch due to personal and family issues in my first two years of high school. I managed to keep a 3.4 unweighted GPA, and plan to get a 4.0 this year as a junior. Sophomore year, I took APUSH and scored a 3, due to the fact that the teacher quit and the class was left with a sub for half the year. I'm in 3 APs this year (AP World, AP Psych, AP Language & Composition), and plan to take more senior year as well. I know that I really messed up during my first two high school years, but I plan to try my hardest my junior and senior year. It's my biggest dream to get into the BU Accelerated Med Program, and I'm wondering if I still have any hope. I plan to run track throughout HS which will make 3 years of HS track total. I also have played clarinet since 8th grade, and I plan to volunteer at a hospital for the next two years. So what do you guys think, do I have a shot?

Hey, as long as you provide a written reason for not doing well, the colleges (at least small ones) will understand from my experiences with my friends. You are on track so far, considering you only have finished 2 years in high school. For any of these med programs, you MUST have some research lab experience. It’s best if you actually can be a co-author of a publication. You have to take SAT IIs for bio, chem, physics, or math II. Try taking the science Olympiads and qualify to semifinals or something. If you can do that and still get good grades, you’ll be fine.
