Boston University ED2 2022

Hey everyone! I didn’t see a forum for ED2 yet, so here ya go! I was wondering if anyone’s ApplicantLink message changed from “Our records indicate…” to “Thank you…” because there’s been some speculation in the past that this is significant. Let me know!

I am going to be totally honest with you and just as a fair warning to the other ED2 kids, in the past three years literally every single person that had “Our records indicate” were deferred and every person that had the “Thank you” message were accepted. If you look on this years ED1 thread which was especially popular it offers a very large amount of people who followed the trend. It is really unfortunate that BU does this because it has grown to be pretty obvious at this point if you are getting in or not early on but ;/ I wish you and the other ED2 kids the best of luck and I hope to see you there (I got in ED1)!!!

I have the “thank you” message as of today! Hoping for the best

Just chiming in as a parent. I followed the thread that @sunflowerlover mentioned. My D applied RD, not ED. Her application was in by mid to late November because her deadline was Dec. 1st because of the Trustee Scholarship and the Kilachand Honors College application that she is applying to. I remember she initially had "Our records indicate " when her portal was brand new when we would check for documents, etc. Then during the first week of December (pretty sure ), it changed to “Thank you for applying”. It has been that since, and she checks about 1x week.

Those sentences really do cause quite a bit of stress, and truly as of now, no one has gotten a surprise result based on which sentence they have. We will be so upset if her sentence ever changes. Isn’t that ridiculous?

@Winky1 It really is sad… while I guess the sentence thing worked out for me, so many people are heartbroken beforehand, and I feel like knowing for weeks in advance that one didn’t get in would be even worse than just finding out on the day they release decisions. Early congratulations to your daughter!! I had the same thing where my message used to be “Our records” but in a couple weeks it changed to “Thank you” I think even in the first week of December as well, but I didn’t apply for the honors program or Trustee.

Well, I am not totally thinking yet that my D is certainly accepted, but I would feel terrible if she didn’t have “Thank you for applying…”

Question for someone who was accepted ED, EA or who has a child previously accepted…

Re the “thank you for applying” language, are we talking about the first email from BU to set up a portal? Or a message in the portal? My email to set up a portal says “Dear —, Thank you for applying.” Doesn’t everyone’s initial email say that? Are we talking right off the bat, or closer to the date decisions will be released? Does the language really “change” over time?

Also, once I log into the Applicant Link, and click on “Application Status,” it says “Our records indicate that you have applied to the College of Arts & Sciences for the Fall 2018 Semester…” Doesn’t everyone’s first sentence say that right now?

@meg2022 , when did you apply if you got "Thank you for your application " today?

@meg2022 I’d like to know, too. Thanks @Winky1 for asking!

@Winky1 @YoungOne4 My application was received by BU on November 17, and I changed my application to ED2 on December 18. I think the change in the portal probably depends on when they review your application. I guess mine was just early or something?

My S applied for ED2 on Jan. 1. I checked the application status in the portal on Thursday 1/4 and the message on the admission status is “Thank you for your application to the College of Engineering as an Early Decision candidate for the September 2018 semester”. Is that possible they make a decision in 4 days?

That is exactly the place to look @myp2018. I don’t have an answer to your question, but the pattern with these sentences is there.

Would you mind posting his stats for reference?

Anyone have any idea when decisions will be released? I’m thinking the 9th

Most likely the 12th

Hi guys! RD applicant here. Does anyone know how the Trustee Scholar process works? I applied for it (w/ the extra essays) by December 1st and I got an email telling me I would be considered. Are finalists for the scholarship notified before their admissions decisions come out? Or do you find out whether or not you got it when you get your decision back? Thank you!

@StudentParadox what makes you think the 12th?

I applied ED || and my message still says “Our records indicate” but it also says they have not received my senior grades. Is it possible that they haven’t reviewed my application, or is that wishful thinking?

@plantlover101 have you submitted first quarter or trimester grades to BU??
