Boston University ED2 2022

Does anyone know deferral acceptance rate pls help?

I was accepted with the thank you message

Accepted with “thank you” message. College of arts and sciences undecided. And I did not get a housing email

does anyone know when we are supposed to get our folders or something??

Accepted. “Thank you…as an Early Decision”

Denied with “thank you” message. This is what my thing said-

Dear __,
The Board of Admissions has carefully and thoughtfully reviewed your application for admission. We recognize your strong commitment to your studies and appreciate the time and effort that went into preparing your application. However, we are unable to offer you admission to Boston University. Please know this decision was not easily reached.

@notbuclassof2022 I’m so sorry. This process is so hard. Hang in there.

Thank you to everyone who is posting message/stats. Here’s a question: was anyone ACCEPTED with OUR RECORDS INDICATE?

@Winky1 So far, it’s looking like for EDII, “thank you” can be an acceptance or a denial, and “our records” is a deferral. Do you agree?

Hi @YoungOne4 , I do thing Our Records is a deferral for EDI and EDII. Did you find it was also an indicator of denial for RD? Or is that not the case? Also, while 3 people have been denied in EDI and ED II with Thank You message, far, far more people are accepted with it. So, I like your idea that those denied with the Thank You message could be from a particular college from the university. But if we have to make a blanket statement, then yes, Thank You can be acceptance or denial for EDI and EDII. Do you agree that EDI should be included with these EDII thoughts?

What about RD now? Is the Thank You message for acceptances and denials? I wonder.

I got deferred from Sargent. Does anyone know where we can find out more about deferral acceptance rates? Should we contact admissions to show our interest? send another letter of rec?

My counselor at school sent my semester grades three days ago… do you think they considered it?

@kipperj Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it works out for you in RD! Can you tell us if you had the “thank you” or “our records” message?

@Winky1 I went back through the Class of 2021 RD discussion thread. Sadly, the overwhelming majority of kids who posted their results did not specify which message they had and, if they did, very few noted which college. :((

Of the 8 people who did specify their message: 7 were accepted, and 1 was rejected.

Of the 7 accepted, 6 had “thank you” and 1 had “our records.” Two “thank you’s” were for COM and one “thank you” was for Questrom.

Regarding the 1 who was rejected, he/she had “thank you.”

I also found that access / no access to the housing portal turned out to be irrelevant in both directions.

I also found that two of the acceptances noted above seem to have been people who had been deferred from ED, so that’s good!

I also found that…holy cow THE STATS WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE! Assuming a certain baseline of GPA and ACT/SAT (let’s just say for argument a 3.5 unweighted and a 28 ACT): for anyone at or above those levels there was literally no obvious NO RHYME OR REASON as to who was getting accepted or rejected. Wild fluctuation. Craziness. No way to explain or predict.

I wish us all good luck!

kipperj i don’t think they considered it because my school sent them today so i’m sure they decided that they wouldn’t consider anyone’s. But i’m not sure, just a guess.

Wow @YoungOne4, you could publish a small case study on the conjecture of admissions at Boston University!

@YoungOne4 You are forgetting that admissions is holistic. Higher statted students deferred may have written a bad essay. They may have disciplinary actions on their record. They may have a bad recommendation. Or maybe they submitted “additional information” in which hey blamed their teacher for their one bad grade. etc.

Hey @tomsrofboston , what is that a picture of in your new profile picture? Is it somewhere at BU?

@Winky1 NU’s ISEC atrium

It looks very nice - thanks for the update

@TomSrOfBoston That’s all true, of course.
