Boston University-Fall 2019- Transfer

@ngregoire17 I think its completely random how they release decisions, I also submitted my app on March 1st and its still at 3 paragraphs and I’m not missing any credentials. Congrats to ur daughter, mind sharing her stats? GPA, extracurriculars, which college shes transferring from, etc, thanks!

I received my financial aid decision yesterday and was admitted on the 5th. I did not receive close to enough aid to attend ://. BU is my first choice but I guess I will have to deny entry. Good luck to everybody else!

@KojouAndYukina She attended Ithaca College as a TV/Radio Production major with a 3.47 GPA and earned 54 credits (some of which were earned during high school). She was active at the college radio station, tv studio and concert bureau. She also worked a part-time job. She didn’t submit her SAT or ACT scores from high school. Her GPA in high school was a 3.34. BU did tell her it would take 2 to 4 weeks for the portal to update once her high school transcript was received but it really only took a few days. Maybe calling and emailing helped but I agree it probably is random.

I have yet to receive a decision, anyone else still waiting?

@AC1139 I’m still waiting!! Still at three paragraphs

@zs2019transfer I have heard of this situation and my best bet is to contact the financial aid office and the student accounting services office and talk to them about the issue you had and they will try their best to help you out. Last year it happened to a friend of mine and he was still able to attend. The process does take some time but try to contact them as soon as possible.

Are decisions released on the weekend?

@riceballs May I asked how much they offered you, they gave zero to my daughter, that means we have to pay the whole thing ourselves. I guess they are not as generous as they used to be

@AC1139 still waiting and I had submitted my document in February itself.

@rbfall2019 can you link me the facebook page? I can’t find it anywhere and I’ve searched a million different things :frowning: thank you!!

@ngregoire17 thanks for the extra info!

@riceballs just curious, how much aid did u get and how much did u still have to pay? Were u eligible for need-based aid or was ur income too high(im a student that would need “need-based” aid so just curious if they didnt offer that)

@AC1139 still at 3 paragraphs as well, ur not alone, they said decisions would continue coming out until the end of June ._.

@SKtransfer19 I called and asked 2 days ago, they said decisions won’t be released on weekends if I recall correctly

@Coopy1 I got about 30k, but approximately 5k in loans. This means I’d pay about 45 thousand. I heard BU is a hit or a miss when it comes to financial aid. I guess we both missed

@KojouAndYukina They did offer me need-based aid, about 25k. My family income is not high

How much do you guys think they’ll increase my financial aid award if I appeal?

anyone in this thread still at three paragraphs? i wasn’t asked for my midterm report but i think im going to send one in anyway, my grades are high this semester so hopefully that will help my decision…

I called them a week ago and they told me that my decision would be released in mid to late April, idk if that means that they plan when each person hears a decision?

Has anyone heard from the College of Engineering yet? I’m curious if the different colleges have different schedules for releasing decisions.

Does anyone know when we have to make a decision to bu whether we are attending or not??

Also, I’m new to this thread, can someone explain what it means to say you have a certain number of paragraphs left? Is that how many paragraphs of text you have on your checklist?

@College838 On my portal it says the tuition deposit is due by June 1st but I think the deposit for housing is May 1st

@AC1139 When you log in to your BU portal under the Application Status tab, if you have submitted all your documents and a checklist no longer shows up, you should either have 2 paragraphs or 3 paragraphs. 3 paragraphs mean your application is complete but hasn’t been looked at yet and 2 paragraphs mean that your application is under review and you will likely receive your decision soon (within a day or two)
