@“CAS 2020” I graduated with a CS degree decades ago. Was great then ! Best of luck

@blevine Hello, my daughter wants to study CS as well and she loves BU, but their CS program is at the top of the pack as far as ranking (currently #48 per US News). Believe it or not UMass Amherst and Maryland are ranked higher for CS. I know you graduated some time ago, but how did you fare in the job market following graduation? Are you still in the CS field?

@blevine Sorry, meant to say that BU is NOT at the top of the pack as far as ranking.

… Is anyone else looking at these profile breakdowns and feeling increasingly depressed? Just me? Okay. Well, I’ll go back to my corner and cry now.

(Anyways, good luck to everyone applying! Hope we all get in~)

Does anyone know anything about the BU Biomedical engineering program I know its ranked 12th by US News but don’t know how much to trust that…

Received an email from BU Admissions last night
“Admission decisions will be posted on the Applicant Link on March 19. You will receive an email when your decision is available.”
good luck everyone!

@Jules821 Yes I am still in the field. Been a very long time, but what would not have changed, is the location. I had 2 fantastic and well paid internships, in downtown Boston and Cambridge.
I am still in the same industry as one of those jobs, 30 years later. BU will open doors but if you are not MIT etc, you better be good. One of my internships, was all Harvard students and me. A BU grad was a manager and the alumni connection got me a chance.

I had fantastic professors, BU spends the money to hire good faculty, many of my profs had Harvard and MIT PhDs.

I can tell you it is not easy either, they do work kids there. Engineering friends were used to working hard and getting 10/100 on a test. Not as bad in CS since it’s in Arts and Sciences but if your prof learned to teach at MIT or Harvard, they have high expectations.

My own son applied to BU Engineering and waiting to see if he gets in. I am divided, because he is a recruited athlete at another school, in a sport not played at BU. Other school is better ranked for eng and cs, but in lousy location. Given the cost of these schools, that’s another factor. BU’s only big downside is they never were and still are not generous with scholarships nor finaid. I paid in full but I more than made that money back early in my career.

Best of luck

@blevine Thank you very much for the insight and valuable information! Lots to consider. Best of luck to your son!

@Gabriel123 I got accepted EDII and I also got this email. I believe it’s just the admission being lazy, they didn’t bother filtering out all the applicants who got their decision through EDI and EDII.

Just got an email today, for all you ED. The email was just an error.

We recently sent you an email directing you to your BU Web Account in error. This email was intended for regular decision applicants. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

You may contact our office at 617-353-2300 or admissions@bu.edu if you have any questions. Congratulations, again, on your admission. We look forward to seeing you on campus.

Sincerely,

John C. McEachern
Director of Admissions

Been on honor roll every quarter from last year forward- mostly A’S & A+'S, only 2 b+'s senior year, and they were in AP’s
In national honors society, pretty good GPA

I’m super nervous about BU decisions to come out. I applied for COM school, i’ve visited campus 1x, and attended 2 other events about BU near my area so I hope that also shows how BU is a top choice for me. What do you guys think?

We need specific gpa. It could be very subjective to what “good” is other than that your Sat is average but extracirriculars are good you have a good chance depending on what you major in.

High match/match

gpa is a 92.
