Hi!

Two days ago I auditioned for the School of Theater through Early Decision, and I thought I’d share my experience.

My mom and I got there an hour early, so we waited outside the theater lab on the first floor, until we were invited to go inside. Then McCaela Donovan asked for the auditionees to bring their resumé and headshot to her. There were a lot of freshmen SOT students there to talk to us, answer any questions, and were very friendly. Then, after the 40 minute information session, we went up to the fourth floor and waited in the lobby to be called for auditions.

BU auditions are known for their relaxed, comfortable workshop style where people have a good time auditioning. This wasn’t the case for me. I had Clay Hopper as my auditioner, and he took me into a room. I went inside, and did my monologues. He did not workshop my monologues, and proceeded to the interview. He asked me why I wanted to go to BU, and I told him why I wanted to do theater, but forgot to mention why BU specifically, which really makes me upset when I think about it because I wanted to share that with him. He then suggested that I would be more of a theater arts major than anything and I responded yes. I also mentioned wanting to mesh psychology with theater.

It was about a 10 minute audition, I’d love to hear what experiences other people had!
