is getting your midterm report requested usually a good sign or a bad sign? they haven’t asked for mine and its making me worry ha
I just called them and they told me that if you have all your documents submitted, you should receive your decisions in the next two weeks.
@PatriotsFan9081, based on what they told me, i don’t think that it’s a good or bad sign, they probably just don’t need it in your case and you should receive your decision in the next weeks.
I really have no idea if its either good or bad. Maybe they are completely sure that they want you and are not in need of a midterm report. Maybe they have some concerns about your application and want a clearer image of your grades now. Maybe they want to accept you and have to have an idea of how your grades are this semester just to make sure you still have a good enough GPA. Most of us just have one or three semesters in the books, so a bad semester can destroy our GPA. Therefore, I believe that they wouldn’t want to accept someone who had a 3.6 GPA before this semester, but a 3.2 after. I hope I am making myself clear.
Additionally, I have just requested a midterm report this morning. In case any of you are wondering, I’ll post my stats.
I attend uni in Mexico
Applying to the School of Engineering
My uni is well respected and probably the highest-ranked engineering school in Mexico
3.8 GPA (top five percentile)
Enrolled in the Honors Program
110 TOEFL
I was accepted as a Freshman.
Captain of Intramurals Softball Team
Taught English to public university students in Mexico as community service.
Attended Notre Dame at a Semester Abroad
Previous work experience
Fluent in English and Spanish, Beg-Int level in German.
I believe my essays are one of the best pieces I have ever written, but I don’t consider myself a great writer. Probably a 7/10
I have not been asked to send a midterm report, so I’ll send my stats for reference
- I currently attend a nearby college in Boston
- I’m applying as a freshman going into my sophomore year
- 3.92 GPA, applying to Sargent
- 2 really meaningful letters of recommendation (1 from a college professor, one from a manager of employment for 2+ years)
- I would say 9/10 essay, it was peer-reviewed several times
- worked both on and off-campus last semester
- In high school, I was a 4-year soccer team starter (and senior year captain), student body vice president, admissions ambassador, co-founded a school newspaper, and part of an honors group at my school
- was also apart of my state’s honor society and national honor society
- 1320 SAT and 28 ACT
- bilingual (English and Spanish)
- completed a summer program at Brown University
they haven’t requested mine either. To be honest, I guess it can only mean they either haven’t looked at our application, looked and denied without it, or looked and accepted without needing to see it.
So are a lot of people being asked for a midterm report? I haven’t gotten a request or heard from BU at all really but I submitted one today to all my schools anyway because I’m taking five STEM courses and have all A’s (4.0 cumulative) right now, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt. But April 15th is the first wave?
An update to my post from earlier: so I went to look at my portal to send in these files and when I went to look for it it was gone? Like the notification just isn’t there anymore. I’m gonna email admissions and see what happens, but I’m just confused.
@falltransfer2020 hey same here. I submitted all of those documents immediately tho, so that is why I figured it disappeared. But did you submit all of the information or did it just disappear? And also please let me know what they say, I am in the same situation as you are.
I didn’t submit any of it. I checked for the first around 11 am then when I went to check again at 6 it just disappeared. I emailed admissions about an hour ago, but I’ll definitely be updating when I get an email back. I’m wondering if that means we’re both accepted with scholarships?? Maybe I’m jumping the gun on that one but who knows
@falltransfer2020 yeah that is weird I submitted it and I figured that they updated it all. Oh, I wish. Truly that would be wonderful.
@marlon01 I just did some digging into what it means, and I’m almost positive it means we were accepted with scholarships. The “Confirmation of BU Scholarship aid” is a form all BU students on scholarships have to fill out each year. My dad is a BU alumni and they have a $2500 for those who qualify (which I’m assuming I do, but it’s need-based and not merit-based and my family makes quite a bit). Maybe that’s it? I’m not sure about your situation though
my “my profile” on the portal tweaks when I click it, anyone else??
@hannabanana0807 it seems like mine is lagging/twitching a little too, but i dont know if this means anything.
@marlon01. @falltransfer2020 i had the same thing with the 3 items on my financial aid section I submitted two out of the 3. Didn’t have time to submit the last one. I went back to it later in the day and was gone.
Interesting I had five not three but yeah that’s interesting
@falltransfer2020 @vutfs20 I had W2, Student Income for FA, Student Income Confirmation for scholarship consideration, Parent verification for Federal Finacial Aid, and lastly the household member list. HBU?
@marlon01 HOUSEHOLD MEMBER LIST, PARENT INCOME VERIFICATION FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID & STUDENTINCOME VERIFICATION FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID. Excuse the caps, I copied it from their website. But yeah, I only had these three. I submitted the income verification but didn’t have time for the member list. If you go to uploaded history it will show it was uploaded but doesn’t show the title.
I honestly don’t remember if the income verification was for financial aid or for the BU scholarship.
