Anxiety right now is through the roof regarding this. Really wish I didn’t check my portal so early and noticed that change. It’s going to be a long and brutal week.
Hi! I’ve been reading along to this thread but just made an account. I am applying as a soph to BU for Fall ‘18. I’m a little late to the convo but I’ll still say my stats and what I know to hopefully quell some anxiety, mine included lol. I’m at a cc in Mass. I intend to go pre-vet so I applied to CAS.
- College GPA: 4.0 (however only one semester to show)
- High school GPA: my last three semesters were straight A’s and my last year of high school I took college classes however I messed up early hs so my accumulative wasn’t great (like a 3.7 weighted with one AP)
- ACT: 30
- Good extracurriculars (phi theta kappa and started a non-profit etc) and really good midterm report (which I submitted without them asking for) that was another 4.0 taking 17 credits
- will have 35+ credits beginning next fall from multiple things (college classes taken in hs, a clep exam, etc)
Okay so my boyfriend and I are both from Cali and moved here in September. He goes to BU and transferred there as a junior this past fall from a cc in Cali. His college GPA was a 3.4, not a great ACT, decent extracurriculars however he got in and was notified mid to late May and is know killing it over there. I spent like half my time there though because I live super close too. Currently freaking out about decisions… He tells me that BU is trying to increase their transfer rate and decrease their freshman admit rate to move up in rank so I’ve been holding onto that bit of hope! Also my applicant link has two paragraphs I think (one that says freshman then one that says transfers) and says that admissions decisions will be released starting mid April. I have my fingers crossed for us all!! Also something to note, I found it quite intimidating when I was first looking at these threads however don’t forget that the kind of students that take the time to obsess over threads and post their stats are the diligent, hard working ones. Best of luck
I feel like I’m in really good academic standing for BU (applied to Questrom for Pre Law program) and all that so I’m really anxious about the 3 paragraphs thing because I still have 3
@festivalgirl What does the third paragraph say?
@aabbccddz I’m also from a cc in Cali like your boyfriend! Fingers crossed for the both of us
first wave should should come about in 7 days.
@r3j3ct3d1 You say that and all I can picture is that creepy girl from The Ring…“Seven daysssssss…” No less ominous though, haha.
@aabbccddz You should check the ‘application status’ in your application link, and if you have ‘Our records indicate that you…’, that is the three paragraph one. Also, if you see ’ We have received…’, that is the two paragraph portal.
@r3j3ct3d1 did you ask admissions or look at the previous threads?
@mailbu Ohh gotcha, thanks! Yikes… I have 3 paragraphs
@aabbccddz Same. I’m checking the link for 20 times each day.
@mailbu I’ve been going through last years transfer threads for way too long. If they follow the same schedule we will hear back in a week if we are apart of the first wave. I can’t wait any longer!
@Bostontransfer18 my brother got accepted first week of april last year for spring trasnfer.
@mailbu hi I’m also an international student from China, currently in a U.S. university. I have a 3 paragraph portal too, not sure if they review international application later than others but I’m so nervous.
I really wish someone with general direct knowledge of the process from BU could clarify the differences and ease the anxiety, but I am sure a phone call would do that. I am afraid to call because I am afraid of the answer, lol.
this is the 3 paragraph prompt (that I still have)
"Our records indicate that you have applied to the Questrom School of Business for the September 2018 semester. If this information is not correct, or if you would like to change the college or school of application, please call BU Admissions during regular business hours.
Our records currently indicate that your application for admission is complete. Please note that the status of your application file and the required credentials are only accurate to date.
Upon further evaluation, the Board of Admissions may determine that we need further information to complete your application file. If so, we will contact you, or you may check our web site at a later date. If you would like to discuss your application further, please call us at 617-353-2300 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and a member of our staff can answer any remaining questions that you may have."
“Upon further evaluation” seems to be the key difference in the two prompts.
