Boston University Transfers Fall 2018

@jenjen9796 Hi, I’ve been looking at this thread for a while and just made an account! I was accepted into Boston University’s COM.

Accepted today to CAS, applied March 1. They didn’t get all my materials until March 26 apparently though (got an email from someone in the office) so it’s a miracle I got a decision this early XD Good luck to everyone still waiting!!!

Hi! So I know BU does not require us to submit our enrollment deposit until June 1st however they require us to “respond” to our financial aid award by May 1st. Does that just mean we have to accept it without out committing. I ask because I will not hear back from the other schools I applied too until mid-May.

Got into BU today! 3.8 GPA, 15 credits. Applied 1/31 :slight_smile:

Congrats everyone who got in! Is there anyone still waiting for a decision that had a 2 paragraph portal during March?

@t0pnotch I have 2P on the port, with 1st version (someone posted 2versions of 2 paragraphs before). Still waiting for decision.

Plus, congrats everyone, who got accepted today!

Accepted to CAS. Sent my application at like 11:58pm March 1 so Im surprised the decision comes out this early LOL

College GPA: 3.89

@Amberrr Nice to see you here. I submitted application on 2/15. Materials were done on 3/27. Also, did u get a TOEFL waive from Northeastern University?

@yankeebanger I emailed NEU international admissions on Friday, but they haven’t replied me. I think I will wait two more days for their reply. :slight_smile: congrats you get in BU today !!

Accepted to CAS for political science. I got approx 40,000 in financial aid.

Honestly I’m not even sure if I can afford BU with FA… does anyone know exactly how much tuition, board, and everything is. I feel like the cost for books and supplies is exaggerated most of the time. Is there any way to appeal for more financial aid. I’m really not interested in taking out too much in loans or taking out a loan at all. Anyone else struggling with how to pay for BU??

Who would I call to figure out what my standing is going to be, after this semester it looks like I would have 51 credits transfer over, which I assume makes me a sophomore? I would need to know for financial aid purposes.

@ConcreteJungle1 There is a tab on the portal that says “Next Steps”, then under that, there is a tab that says “Tuition Information”. That will share with you the total cost of tuition + room/board/miscellaneous fees. You can also appeal the decision by composing a letter to them and submit it by mail/fax/in-person, or you can call the Office of Financial Aid to inquire about who is your appeals officer (based on your last name) and verbally appeal the decision. I HIGHLY recommend already get together all the information you want to present to them in a document so when you are going through the appeals process, you can recall what you want to state in regards to your financial situation. That is what happened to me when I applied as a senior in high school and it’s the same case again now as a sophomore transfer applicant. If you want, you are more than welcome to send me a message in regards to this!

got accepted today! college gpa is 4.0 (one semester) and my high school gpa was 2.9.
Guess essay writing has a big impact on admissions! good luck to everybody else

@iheartmedicine @ConcreteJungle1
This may be a case to case basis, but my friend called BU less than a week ago and they told her they need your parents W2 and Tax Returns. They also said the appeal must be sent via email.

Just thought I would put my stats out there since I was admitted to Questrom school of business…

High School GPA: 2.7
Extracurriculars: Varsity football, baseball, weight lifting, basketball, track and field, math tutor, peer health educator, best buddies.

College: CCSU
Major: Finance and Accounting
Current Sophomore, 42 credits including this semester.
College GPA: 3.8
Extracurriculars: Finance Association, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, been working at ESPN for almost 2 years, have a summer internship this year at a well-known wealth management firm, attended multiple investment banking invite-only events.
Volunteering: Volunteer at the VoluntEARS program through ESPN
Recommendations: One from a professor at CCSU, and another from the superintendent of schools of my high school’s school district.

@t0pnotch @iheartmedicine thank you guys! I wasn’t aware of all this and it has really helped. I found the part of the website where you appeal for FA at https://www.bu.edu/finaid/apply/special-circumstances/reconsideration/

I’m extremely thankful for the aid I have recieved but the tuition is still out of reach for me so I’ll definitely need to appeal. And yea they ask for both income tax returns and W-2 forms to be sent directly to their Financial assistance office.

For your guys credit evaluation are your current spring courses on the credit evaluation? Because mine are not and I am assuming this is because there is no final grade yet and BU prob needs to see you get a c or better before they count them? No clue but if someone knows please feel free to say

@BostonLover856

That’s exactly what it is. I also think it has to do with how much loans they will offer us if we are upperclassmen because the federal loans offered are at the freshman level for me.

same for me but I have like 7 or 8 classes currently being reviewed and five more this spring so if all are accepted i should be coming in as a junior. how much of a difference does the loans being offered change from freshman level to junior though?
