Boston University Transfers Fall 2018

Message on portal changed for me, it was a longer 3 paragraph message before…

"We have received your application to the College of Arts & Sciences for the September 2018 semester. Our records indicate that your application for admission is complete. Admission decisions for September 2018 will be posted starting in April. Please verify your address (including e-mail address) by clicking Applicant Address."

@TransferFall2018 that’s what mine says too. Was anyone else asked to start sending in syllabi for credit evaluation? I was asked about a month ago when I sent in my application but I don’t think everyone was asked

@pink418 I was never asked, I have 4 A’s and I think a B this semester, I was going to send it out but I guess it isn’t necessary for BU because it seems like they may have already made their decision? Going off what past years have said about seeing their portals changed to that message

@pink148 Just realized I read your message wrong. I sent out my syllabi back in January. Thought you were referencing the mid-term reports. Pretty sure I got that email back in January after submitting my application.

@TransferFall2018 from looking back at past threads, the portal switches from three paragraphs to two when you’re about to get your admission decisions. i’m not 100% sure about this but from my memory, a lot of kids got their decisions the day after or very shortly after the message switched

@koreanincali I have been seeing this, but it does seem strange that it would be coming so early, so I am still thinking I might not hear whether I was accepted for another 2 weeks :frowning:

@TransferFall2018 yeah you’re right, it would be a super early release date for admissions. the earliest they’ve come out is April 3rd i believe. fingers crossed though! let us know if you hear back  mine still says they’re missing my college transcript, which i sent in a while ago…

@koreanincali Do you think they would release a rejection this early?

@TransferFall2018 When did you submit your application? I’m so nervous cuz mine does not change yet.

@TransferFall2018 no I doubt it. I’ve looked at threads from fall 2017, spring 2017, and spring 2016. It’s always acceptances first, and denials at the very end. so you’re good

Hello everyone, I’m an international student from China, and here is my stats
Current college: Syracuse University
1st term GPA: 4.0
2nd term GPA: 3.9 maybe
HS GPA (international highschool in China): 3.43
some honor courses and no AP class (got a 5 in AP Japanese)
New SAT: 1400 with 18 writing
TOEFL: 102
Have several clubs but does not have many activities.
Applying for marketing major of Questrom School of Business
Do I have chance for BU?

@malibu Seeing your stats, I wouldn’t be nervous. Also, I applied right before Christmas.

New update to the portal:

“Admission decisions will be posted on the ApplicantLink beginning in mid-April on a rolling basis. You will receive an email when your admission decision is available. The BU financial aid deadline was March 1.
Late CSS Profile and FAFSA applicants will be considered for BU scholarships depending on the availability of funding.”

So unsure if we will hear back on the first Monday in April like in years past or in mid-April like it says. I still have that 2 paragraph message which changed from 3 which has me very anxiously excited, but I should probably stop checking the portal because it’s going to drive me insane.

Hi guys, I’m new here so if this has been answered before, sorry!
If my portal changed from the 3 to 2 paragraphs, does that indicate a decision soon?
Thanks, and good luck everyone!

@Miamitransfer Looking at past years and threads, I think the answer would be yes. But it is also very early and everything official from BU seems to be saying “mid-April” for an admission decision, except last year and the year before the first wave heard back the first Monday in April. So, who really knows? It may be irresponsible to give that a question a yes or no answer.

Checking up on posts from previous years, it seems as if a 3 paragraph to a 2 paragraph change doesn’t mean it’s necessarily an acceptance. I suspect a lot of first wave replies were rejections, but people didn’t want to post.

Thanks guys! The waiting game is slowly killing me

Did anyone else’s profile change back?
I had “Admission decisions will be posted on the ApplicantLink beginning in mid-April on a rolling basis. You will receive an email when your admission decision is available. The BU financial aid deadline was March 1.
Late CSS Profile and FAFSA applicants will be considered for BU scholarships depending on the availability of funding.”
Just checked again, and its back to
"We have received your application to the College of Arts & Sciences for the September 2018 semester. @Miamitransfer

Yes, that is what I am seeing. I have spent the past 24 hours obsessively checking the portal.

What are your stats looking like?

I took the old SAT in high school, got a 2170.
High school average was a 94, College GPA: 3.8.
First generation student, bilingual, very involved in college activities.
Does it mean anything, that the portal changed back?

@Miamitransfer

I think by those stats you shouldn’t be overly worried, and it seems like it doesn’t mean anything aside from possibly being a part of the first wave of acceptances/rejections.
