Boston University versus Northeastern University

DS admitted to these schools for engineering. Any insights appreciated regarding education, college life, future career opportunities, etc. Any input appreciated!

Since you only posted this in the BU forum I suspect a bias but I’ll take a stab at it. The most obvious difference is that Northeastern has its coop program. A student can do two 6 month coop periods and still graduate in 4 years. No need to worry about summer internships. Northeastern has a traditional mostly defined campus.

BU is more the traditional college experience but with a very untraditional campus.

Have you visited both schools?

@TomSrOfBoston - thanks for your reply - I should check out their 4 yr graduation rate. I will post on NE site (seems more active then BU - not sure if this is a sign too!) unfortunately we did not visit. Our DS had a plan. Wait till you see where you’re admitted, and then go visit… We are west. However, my husband and I spent our graduate study years back east, and loved Boston. We were not at BU, however NE had “barely a notice.” I am aware that NE was one of the first, if not first, to do the coop thing, and does it well. NE seems to be popular amongst our DS peers. The student reviews that I found reflect more student satisfaction at NE, but not sure if that is biased. Forbes has a financial article that gives BU a B+ rating, I am not sure where NE was, but I think lower. Both campuses seem innovative in their engineering teaching.
