Boston University vs. University of San Diego

Which of the two would be better for international business? I was accepted to both and both schools have business schools which understanding from further research, are highly respected, but I am from PA, so San Diego is quite a haul for school. I am just trying to weigh my two options.

Thanks!

BU I would think is better. But is either school affordable for you?

@thedidactic I am in the position with my parents where we can afford both of these schools granted we receive at least a small sum of financial aid. I am very fortunate to be picking between these two institutions.
Why do you believe BU as a better choice?

Are you talking about USD or UCSD? (Just checking, because USD is not in the same league as BU academically speaking)

I believe BU is better because it is a school with stronger academics and more opportunities for business in an urban environment.

@MYOS1634‌ Yes I am speaking of USD in Alcala Park, San Diego.

BU is MUCH better than USD, then. Not in the same category at all.

UCSD would be better than BU, USD no way.

^yup, TomSr, that’s what I was thinking and why I checked, because those BU and USD just aren’t in the same category…

OP: where else have you been admitted?

@MYOS1634 Okay, I thought so, but I was so unsure because I was accepted to BU unexpectedly and was always deadset on USD but now I have to make a tough choice!

I have also been accepted to Denison University, Pennsylvania State University, and Lafayette College

Denison, Penn State, and Lafayette are excellent schools as well. Any reason they are off the table?

These are two very different schools. I would visit each and see where you would rather live for four years. Do you like the beach? Sunny weather? If so, go with USD. etc.

Denison, Penn State, and Lafayette are all excellent, and much better than USD.
So you really have 4 choices (and BU is a great one too!)
What are the final costs if you do not subtract any loans, just grants/scholarships?

@TheDidactic well my original plan was to be a bio major and completing Pre-Vet requirements to apply to veterinary grad school. But I am reconsidering that path as it is very costly with average student debt between 200,000-250,000. So when I was originally applying, I applied to both regular traditional universities and Liberal Arts. Lafayette and Denison are off the table because if I stay a bio major at that school and want to change, I am stuck at a liberal arts school. I want options I guess. And I don’t like Penn State University Park because I’ve been there so often for swim meets and because I only live 3 hours away from it, I just know already that it isn’t for me. It was merely a safety school.

@MYOS1634
I was offered money only at Denison.
Tuition:
Denison: 40k
Penn state: 40k
USD: 61k
BU: 61k

My family was not even close to qualifying for financial aid to the point where we were advised not to waste time on CSS and need based anything. So i had already discussed with my parents that we were paying full tuition except for outside scholarships that I applied for.

I am not sure I follow what you mean here?
Biology is very strong at both of them, economics also,* both allow you to explore and decide during sophomore year, and both have excellent placement rates.

  • Economics majors, especially with a side of math (pure math or, especially, statistics), are very appreciated.
