Hey there everyone,
I just got accepted into the Boston University in the School of Management. It is my dream university. However the only problem is the high tuition fee. The total fee for Boston is almost 64,000 $. This is a lot of money. I am an international student so the provision of need based finance is not available to me. It would be highly beneficial for me if anyone could suggest me anything regarding this. Is it possible for me to ask the admission office to provide me with some kind of financial aid? If not, what should I do?

On the other hand, I have some other good options as well to choose from. They are:

Ohio State University
Bentley University
Bryant University (12,000$ Scholarship)
Purdue University
Northeastern University
Penn State University Park
Syracuse University.

I will be going for a course in Business.
Kindly Suggest me what should I do. Thanks in advance.

If you know you cannot pay the full fee at BU, I’m honestly puzzled as to why you applied to a university that has a stated policy of not giving aid to international students per their website. I hope you checked your eligibility at the other places to which you applied.

Did you research where you might be eligible for aid and scholarships before you applied?

Dear NJSue,
I did check the fee for Boston before applying. However I don’t want to add on to the burden on the family. As far as financial factors are considered, Ohio State University, Bentley University, Bryant University, Purdue University and Penn State are the best fit for me. I am not much interested in Syracuse and Northeastern.
Any help what can I do for Boston?

As BU has a policy of not giving aid to internationals, I do not see what help can be had. I doubt they will waive their policy for you. Best of luck with your other options.

Amongst all these options, Bryant is the cheapest for me. Given the fact that I am receiving a scholarship of 12,000$. It is followed by Ohio State and Purdue which are almost equal.

Informative,
Although it seems that Northeastern has a better program but BU surely has a better reputation both in the fields of education as well as in the corporate world. Also, my counselor is also inclined towards BU. Recently, my parents are ready for me to go to BU. I would like to know that is the education in BU worth for what they asking? And can anyone provide me with pros and cons of BU as compared to Ohio State?
Thank You

This is the first year that Northeastern admissions has been more competitive than BU. Northeastern does accept less students but that is mostly because BU’s freshman class can hold an extra 1,000 students and they get the same amount of applications. So naturally NEU will have a smaller acceptance rate and higher stats for incoming freshman.

I do agree that Northeastern is now more selective (mostly because of the class size thing), but to say that BU is for “Northeastern rejects” is just dumb. They are comparable universities in terms of reputation and prestige.

Worth noting:

Northeastern yield rate = 18.9%

BU yield rate = 19.3%

If they had the same class size they would have identical acceptance rates and stats of incoming freshman imo

Guyz,
My query is still not resolved. Since I got accepted into both of them, it hardly matters to me who is more selective or not. It will be highly beneficial if someone could advice me what they would have done if they had been in my place. Thanks
