they’ve already been accepting tons of people from the waitlist.

To quieteyes: if you applied for aid, your chances are very low for getting off - sorry. I was very, very close with admissions and they take people off who can pay 95% of the time.

But waitlistees should not lose hope! Keep in mind that there is a “summer melt” in which kids going to Bowdoin could get off waitlists at other schools as late as in July or August and they might go back to the waitlist then. Good luck, all! Try to fall in love the school you’re enrolled at. Every school is a great one, make the best of it :)

ohcollege–since you were tight with admissions do you have any idea what kind of students they looked to take off of the waitlist? minorities? athletes? artists? internationals? or just a wide spectrum of a lot of different types of applicants? do you have any idea how many they took off/if they have any more spots to fill (not counting summer melt spots)?

it depends. if they see that they need more squash players, it might help to pick up someone from the waitlist who was interested in playing squash for bowdoin. If minority numbers are super low, they might pick up a minority. Either situation would only occur if there was a significant deficiancy in either category - and the ability of an applicant to pay helps. Rich squash player > poor squash player. They pay attention to demographics

They’ve taken off quite a few so far. I have no idea what the numbers look like though

O.K. June 5th still waiting to hear if my daughter gets in …do they let you know one way or the other…holding onto a thread.

Received a letter yesterday from Bowdoin admission that the wait list was closed.

ohcollege123 do you know any waitlists still causing the “summer melt” ?
Still hoping on an extended waitlist

no. it might help to look at other colleges’ forums to see if you find anything.
