For some people. Some people got an email and their portal was updated. All have gotten in as far as I can tell.
Congrats! Anyone know when decisions are coming out for the rest of us? Is there a set date?
@juniperann As far as I can tell, there is no set date. Hopefully soon though
Called them like an hour ago. They said it was only for a select few candidates who they were really interested in. Like their weird form of a likely letter. They’re still in comitee debating applicants too. Everyone will receive an email later this week letting them know decisions will be out on the 18th, Friday around 7:00 pm.
…really interested in" @ohwhatalife That makes me sound “less wanted”
Really rude statement
That’s a weird statement to make. If you are going to accept people earlier than everybody else, at least keep it quiet. University of Rochester accepted some applicants very early but didn’t make such stupid comment. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t let them tell me that over the phone.
Forgive me, I honestly don’t even know why I’m annoyed. I guess admission people should try saying less insensitive statements.
I know it was really awkward. I guess their strategy was to get like these kids who they gave admittance to to accept before they got better offers, maybe that’s why they all got scholarships. It was just such an uncomfortable situation.
That isn’t very heartening to hear, to know that those who didn’t get in early they are basically “not as interested in”. I’m slightly disappointed.
Not rude at all in my opinion. It’s pretty simple…some folks stand out more than others. Not everyone can be the best. Some folks are simply more appealing as candidates and Bowdoin wanted to let them know earlier than others. A lot of colleges practice the same method. Good Luck to you guys.
Like I said most of these people got scholarships, so they were like the stars of the bunch. As hard as it is to hear, some people are just stronger applicants than others, and we shouldn’t feel bad if that’s not us. We’re all gonna get in somewhere, and whether or not that’s Bowdion, it’s just the way it has to be and it’s gonna be okay.
I googled the scholarship and there is an application form for it, but it is no longer available. So this is quite confusing…Did Bowdoin also offer this scholarship to applicants that they were really interested in even though they didn’t complete the application form?..Honestly I don’t mind what Bowdoin did, accepting more interested students early, although its not heartening to hear that but oh well, we will end up were we are meant to(as clichéd as it may sound)
These acceptance letters are “early writes.” That is all. “Early writes” are a standard feature of the admissions process at virtually all the NESCAC schools and are designed to let extra-desirable candidates know just how desired they are and to give them time to plan a visit . . . .
I think by “really interested in”, it meant “very interested in”. It didn’t mean the rest of the applicants are fodder.
Anyway, I am still excited and nervous to hear my decision later this march; the good, the bad or the ugly. Hopefully the good!
And I really do love Bowdoin college and the views I have seen… I haven’t visited, (international) but I have them on my snapchat, Lol. And they add back.
I got accepted. Good luck everyone.
Just curious, anyone knows if Bowdoin has a specific type of students that the college is interested in (aside from athletes)?
Did you just find out yesterday?
I believe Bowdoin has limited merit scholarships and those admitted early when referring to scholarships probably talking about their financial aid awards not merit awards. only thing I could see on Bowdoin’s website about merit awards referred to the national merit finalist awards.
