hey
I've become really interested in bowdoin lately--planning on visiting there soon.
Anyone have any impressions that they can share? also, how are the english and theology departments?

Any schools similar to bowdoin (besides colby and bates) that i should look into?

Friend's son from Southern California attends Bowdoin. Loves it! It is a school with a lot of spirit, lots of outdoorsy types, etc. He is a decent student but I haven't asked about academics.

I visited Bowdoin this summer and got a good overall vibe. The campus is beautiful, the people seemed interesting, and the food is spectacular and has been rated #1 for the past several years. Also, if you are a shopper (I'm not), Freeport has an LL Bean factory outlet and lots of other shopping opportunities. I could be wrong, but it seemed more laid back than other schools of its class. The admissions guy at the info session was very cool, and both my interviewer (a current senior) and I had our feet up on the table during the interview.

Might want to add some bigger LAC's like Colgate and Holy Cross. Holy Cross-SAT optional like Bowdoin-is only 1 hour from Boston, while Colgate is more remote in upstate NY. Both have great school spirit like Boedoin.
