Bowdoin college test optional

I have decent GPA but very low test scores.

I learned that there are many schools who consider ACT as optional

I just talked to representative from Knox college and No ACT is needed and that is not going to affect my chance of getting merit scholarship.

Knox college is good college but not prestigious as Bowdoin. Bowdoin is top LAC and has very low acceptance rate and also take ACT as optional.

What makes Bowdoin so hard to get in even though test scores are optional?
would not sending test scores going to affect my chance of getting admitted to Bowdoin unlike Knox? Scholarship chances?

If you do not send scores to Bowdoin, , it is not counted against you, but the rest of your application must be very strong for you to be considered for admission.

And Knox is a very good school. Prestige means nothing. What you learn and how you apply yourself are the important points.
