<p>I tried to look for some information online, but couldn’t find any. Is this an award very few people get?</p>

<p>The program is not publicized very much, since it is an exception to Bowdoin's policy of providing only need-based aid:</p>

<p>I was VERY surprised and flattered to learn I'd been designated as a Faculty Scholar (word came in a separate letter about two weeks ago, along with a nice embossed certificate!). It's basically a one-time $3,000 stipend that can be used any time in four years for research, study-related travel, etc.</p>
